touristy stuff there's Waikiki and all that, diamond head, some hiking (loop trail is good for a more scenic, easy hike), hanauma bay for scuba diving or snorkeling or hanging out
best metro: moscow
once I got lost on the london subway and accidentally went down the fire stairs instead of taking the escalator, getting a glimpse at all kind of interesting doors and corridors on my way down
Manchester had a tram system that isn't especially useful. Although it's getting extended to the surrounding towns. It's just doing so very slowly.
It's nearly at Oldham now!
I was amazed it took 13 minutes on the tram to get from MegaCity to the City Centre, and it only costs £2 to cross the city.
I assume crime will spike once they allow Oldham types into the city.
When I was back in the UK for Christmas we drove along the trail of destruction that is the planned route for the Ashton arm of the tram. It would make an excellent backdrop for some kind of 1980's post-apocalyptic drama.
Homogeneous distribution of your varieties of amuse-gueule
Look, Oldham is the centre of racism and ethnic hatred in the UK (not really anymore) and we need to spread that out, the BNP is fully engaged in bringing it's message of purity to the rest of the UK and what better way than on the tram.

I know. I went to school there. I remember the race riots. It's an awful place, I'd have walled it off rather than built transport links to it.

Toronto's subway system runs fairly well, but the placement of it is just so... silly.
The stops south of the green line barely have any latitudinal distance between them, you can walk east from st.patrick to Dundas station in about 5 minutes or so.
So if you're in that ~1-2 KM area next to the subway lines, you're good!
And if you live in any other part of the city fuck you, we don't fucking want you travelling north or south on the subway you lazy dick. Go walk to McDonald's, fatass.
The London Tube has a similar issue Rolo, except that most of the stations are ridiculously close together however the map is specifically drawn to make them look further apart so you think you need to take the tube.
it's always bothered me that public transport uses schematic maps instead of overlaying it on the actual geography so you can see where you're going and how to walk the last bit or get to a different station or line
I just wanted to get from the 5 to 11, not do a seventeen-mile death march in the freezing cold
Ask me about Texas. Yes we do all ride horses to work. Yes you are all intelligent and edumacated, but you would be surprised how many people take that at face value.
I've seen some of Canada with a wife being from there. With a couple of small exceptions, Montreal has one of the most sane public mass transit systems I have ever ridden. And I would love to retire in Vancouver if the cost of living wasn't as insane as it is.
Can't wait to go visit the UK, particularly England and Scotland some day.
And the sad part is, most of my world history? I've learned it from playing historical simulators.

You're a crazy person. Metro maps not being on a linear scale is what makes them useful at all.

That's alright. You couldn't take the sheer power of our genetically spliced longhorn-horses.
Alternate answer: Well our horses refuse to ride you too.
let's talk about which city has the worst subway system
the london tube bugs me because it's always so freakin' hot, even in the middle of winter. What the fuck is that about??!?
The London tube system is not great because it's the oldest
If you consider how old it is then it actually seems pretty great
the stations that have been updated/expanded/modernised are looking quite spiffy now!
I probably worded that badly - I don't mind the tube! I think it's pretty good, it's just the horrible heat.
Is it really the oldest? The NY system seems older. It's probably just more run down.
