I didn't really have any problem with sheva, I only did some parts of the game as coop. Granted I started on hard right away and I think I had a ton of trouble will Jill and Wesley fight.
I am so jazzed about resident evil 6. I sincerely ope they keep the date. In the meantime ill get by with revelations and maybe operation raccoon city. I played the latter at comicon and while it handled great, I'm still skeptical about the amount of content in the game.

I can't imagine trying to do like the Desperate Escape DLC with an AI (particularly on a harder difficulty, as that is challenging enough with another player as it stands already).
I beat Desperate Escape on Professional in single player. I honestly had a lot more trouble keeping myself alive. It was more "why aren't you helping me?!" than "why do you keep dying?!"
Also, I never had a problem with the AI character running into the sun beams. It seemed like they were especially skilled at avoiding them, to me.

My only problem was Sheva's preferred choice of weapons.
"Here, take this fully upgraded M9, AK, and Bolt Action.
You've got it on 360, don't you? If you had the PS3 version, I'd give you a hand. I'm pretty sure I've still got my save with a few infinite ammo weapons. At that point the game becomes pretty easy and it's the f'n QTE cutscenes (with their tiny input times) that then become the biggest annoyances.
Actually, we found out the hard way when I played through the game the first time with my friend who had played through a lot before that that none of his unlimited ammo unlocks would work until I beat the game the first time. Then after that they where fine.
Really? I didn't know that as I never really tried. But that wouldn't be a problem anyway, as it takes one playthrough to unlock Professional anyway.
And with a $21 EBay auction, I finally have a Dreamcast copy of RE2.
Which gives me RE0, REmake, RE2 (DC), RE3 (DC), RE:CV (I think I have the DC one still somewhere, but would play X on the GC), RE4 (Wii), RE5 (360) and Umbrella Chronicles.
All I need now, in time, is Darkside Chronicles and I think I'm all set with every major canon release.
I just moved, and my new roomate informed me this morning he has the GC versions of RE2 and 3 somewhere, and I could have them if he finds them. AFTER my payments went through for the DC versions. Any big differences?

I have to be the only person in the world that didn't get kicked in the proverbial dick by the AI RE5 partner.
Everybody spouts vitriol about it and I just go "They didn't do anything horrible..."
I played RE5 on the hardest difficulty available at the start (I think professional unlocks when you beat the game) and it was unbearable at some points. Honestly, I am not happy with RE6 being co-op unless they actually make the AI partner useful or not incompetent. They completely gimped the SP game and I do not play RE for a Gears of War co-op experience.
I think coop would be ten times better if you could configure your ally a bit. Like go into a menu and be able to turn certain behaviors on/off
-Pick up items on my own (Yes/No)
-Use health items on my own (Yes/No)
-Use Pistols (Yes/No)
-Use Rifles (Yes/No)
-Use Shotguns (Yes/No)
-Kill nearby enemies before trying to save you (Yes/No)
-Be a complete moron (Yes/Yes)

Co-op is probably great for the people who have other human beings to play with an a regular basis. This is not something that is possible for me, due to my hectic ass schedule first and foremost. I can't imagine I'm alone.
I also played RE5 by myself and Wesker's final form nearly had me tearing my hair out. Kind of hard to even see his back when Sheva keeps following you.
Thanks for that DC vs. GC comparison. Glad I picked up the Dreamcast versions now, even if I do end up with the GC ones for free.
It also reminded me I have a sealed copy of DC Dino Crisis, back from my "IF I BUY EVERY DREAMCAST RELEASE MAYBE THEY'LL UN-CANCEL THE SYSTEM" phase. I should try that to get my survival horror fix too.
So I move into a new place on Saturday, and I think to celebrate I'll start the massive Resident Evil Replay. Should I go in SERIES chronology (0-5) or in release chronology (which at this point would be 2, 3, CV, REmake...since I don't have a copy of the original 1)?
Since I've never actually enjoied 2, and never even played 3 or 0, do I benefit from doing REmake first?
So if you buy Capcom's next new-IP-that-will-bomb-terribly Dragon Dogma you get a super early demo for Resident Evil 6. Confidence in the product! July 3rd.
The fact that it was the only version with true analog makes it a good port. Although it didn't have any of the Dual Shock bonuses so it might be a bit of a draw.

July 3rd for the 360, September for the PS3. Time exclusive demos are the dumbest idea publishers have come up with this gen and that's saying a lot.
On the bright side, by the time the demo comes out on either system, Dragon's Dogma will be in the bargain bin.
What the fuck am I supposed to do in the final fight of RE5
I run toward the boulder, QTE the boulder, now what? It won't let me jump across it. Shooting Wesker does nothing but stall him. I'm just going on a continuous loop from that higher ledge down to where the boulder is. What the fuck is going on? Checking walkthroughs says something about saving Sheva. Sheva hasn't even been fucking attacked. I'm running in circles and she's standing on some far ledge doing absolutely nothing like the dope she's been the entire game.
P.S. Every single boss fight in this entire fucking game has sucked ass
If you aren't against just grinding things out in the least challenging way possible, you can just cruise around the airboat chapter over and over again to pick up money, ammo, and a rocket launcher without ever really having to fight anything (no enemies other than gators really spawn until a certain point). It's been a while, but once I had it down I could dash around, pick up all the stuff I wanted, and then save and restart in like four or five minutes.
There are probably better ways to grind, but I never looked them up and I found the way I did it as inoffensive as grinding could be in an RE game (which was still pretty offensive).
I beat Wesker with what I had in my inventory, somehow; two shotgun rounds, four magnum rounds and a rocket launcher
Took about ten tries, and had to time everything perfectly. What a pain in the ass. But now I can at least say I've beaten RE5. It's still easily the worst of the numbered REs by a wide margin. I like it more than I did a few years ago, but that's not saying much.
Fuck grinding. I plan on going through it again and murdering everything quickly using the rotten egg trick now.

Just run through the corridor, then quit out to main and do it again. Rack up loads of wonga

You can totally knife Wesker to death and it is in fact easier to do it that way.
Yeah, once you get to the final part after the boulder you can activate a QTE after a certain point (not 100% sure when) to just instantly kill him. I had so much trouble with that fight and then I accidentally did it - instantly winning. It confused me so much as to what just happened.
Gilder and I just straight up knifed the sunnavabitch down, on Professional, too, to get that QTE to pop up. You have to hit him in the back when his arm is raised or something silly like that, big red weakspot easy to hit even soloing.
You ran out of ammo in RE5? I honestly didn't know that was possible outside of Desperate Escape screwing you with ammo drops. Speaking of being short on ammo by the end, though, RE0 was a nightmare on the hardest setting for that exact reason. It has a lot of boss fights that are ammo sponges and enough tough normal enemies that by the time you get to the final boss you may very well be in some serious trouble.
Yeah, I'm still sore over that since I actually like RE5 a lot (though I hope they never have a forced co-op setting again, I'm fine if it exists, but design the single player to work just as that, SINGLE, not "bot and I"), and both DLCs look like something I'd like too.

I just started my first game of RE5, and knowing I was going to spend the game babysitting a bot, I set it at the lowest difficulty.
Finished the first chapter. So far I want to like this game, but it's too frustrating and for the wrong reasons. The inventory system is retarded as hell, as is the system for buying and upgrading weapons. Instead of having some in game functional replacement for RE4's merchant, they just bury the shit in a menu somewhere. The worst thing about the game so far isn't so much making sure Sheva doesn't get her ass killed, but in making sure we both have enough ammo. Is there an easier way to give Sheva ammo than going through the inventory menu? Is there a shortcut button to just toss ammo at her? Or to request ammo from her instead of opening the inventory, going over to her menu, selecting the ammo, then selecting request? It's just batshit retarded. I'm getting killed not because the game is challenging, but because it forces me to fumble around with its stupid ass inventory system.
I haven't tried online play yet because I'm afraid of being stuck with someone who will act like an asshat the whole time. I'm not sure if it would improve things anyways, considering my main gripe is with the inventory system.

Well, first of all, you should be considering why you keep running out of ammo. You should be managing your ammo count during downtime, and try to avoid wasting it. It's just like any other Resident Evil game. But it's true that there are times when you can't avoid using the inventory in the middle of the action.
If you want to give something to your partner, highlight the item in your inventory and press the right trigger. That will equip whatever is highlighted (even ammo or herbs), and you can just walk up to them and press X to give it to them or use it on them. With this you can equip it while you're in a safe spot and then run to your partner and quickly give it to them, and you don't have to worry about them moving too far away from you to "give" while you're fumbling through the menu. Also, using the right trigger to equip items means you can just tap Y, then RT to equip the item in the center slot, so that sort of becomes a fifth quick slot.
As far as requesting items goes, "Request" is the only menu option that comes up when you select an item in your partner's inventory, so you don't have to "select request" so much as just tap the button twice.
RE5 was designed to be played in co-op. The inventory is designed so that you can do stuff without interrupting your co-op partner, and it works really well given the constraints. I can't think of any action game that does a real-time inventory better.
