I have to say, I'm enjoying Ada's campaign. I mean, the story isn't great, but it's no worse (and sometimes better) than the rest of RE6's story. That crossbow is, as mentioned, totally boss and she's generally very fun to play as. Need to unlock her in Mercenaries.
Wasn't the pc version pretty decent and good looking, once patched and modded up?
The last half of your sentence is very, very important.
You could make the PC version look much better than the Gamecube version with two or three mods--however, as a whole, the mod community wasn't very organized or efficient (there's still a decent amount of modding going on). That made a simple task surprisingly difficult and tedious. You might just want to get the various console versions and deal with muddy textures.
So I beat Resi 5 again recently. I had a case of severe deja vu towards the end in the Sheva & Chris vs Wesker fight cutscene, more so than any other part of the game
Took me a while to realize; they recreated it perfectly shot for shot in one of the movies

I guess you really can't complain about the movies not being fateful to the games. Although, having gone through RE5 recently I will say every encounter with Wesker is hilariously stupid. It's kind of why I don't hold much against RE6's dumb scenes. It got out of hand in Code Veronica (though it wasn't all that bad in 4 except maybe the Krauser QTE and that laser room [Hello, first movie!] but that whole game felt campy) and has been going downhill since. It feels mandated now to have shitty action scenes like that in these games.
Hopefully Capcom will actually put some effort into an "HD" release, unlike RE4. It'd be nice for one of these ports to actually get a little polish and new art assets for a change of pace, but it's not likely.
I rather see a Dead Rising cafe where you eat zombie meat. If you haven't played Dead Rising, then you won't get why I said that. Sucks to be you.
All the menus will be in print impossible for anyone to read without a magnifying glass. If you haven't played Dead Rising, then you won't get why I said that. Lucky devil.
That joke would work better if Dead Rising was the only one that did it. Also, you didn't need to play Dead Rising since everyone and their mom threw a stink about it when the game first came out.
May 21st. WII U should be the true edition (please let there be motion controls!).
Hell yeah! I don't usually like to double-dip for games, but I think I'll make an exception for this one. The dual screen aspect of the original should be easily preserved in the Wii U version.

It looks good, but it's hard to get a feeling for the texture quality, which has been kind of lackluster from RE4 and beyond. Still, I heard mission mode in Revelations was pretty good alongside the story mode.

So Revelation is light on the zombie masses and heavy on the overly-elaborate B.O.W. monsters?
I actually don't mind that--whatever mystique zombies had in the past, it's long gone now. Probably the reason why I enjoy RE games while I find the zombie genre kind of boring.
I found the lighting in all of Leon's campaign to be terrible, and I'm not sure why they would make it so. There's lighting to enhance the mood of a given area and then there's making it impossible for the player to see.

Yeah, if you calibrate it the way you're "supposed" to, Leon's campaign is obscenely dark. Really, you might as well just raise the brightness and deal with the RE4-style muddy textures.
I certainly wouldn't object to $40 or $30, but did anyone seriously expect Capcom to even do a straight-out port--much less any sort of HD-re-release--and not charge $50? I'm surprised it's not $60.
Hell, RE4 "HD" is still $20 (barring the occasional sale), despite its age. Capcom certainly isn't going to set prices based on quality of game, or they'd be paying people to pick up copies of DMC2.
Well, they'll only have themselves to blame when this doesn't move units. Oh, wait. This is Capcom. They'll just blame consumers instead of their gross ignorance.
i was pretty excited about revelations HD, but theres just no way im paying $50 for that. guess i'll wait 3-6 months and grab it on the cheap on clearance somewhere. that seems to be a trend with me and capcom games lately.
how does revelations play? old school, re4 (slow character and enemies), re5 (slow character, fast enemies), or re6 (fast character and enemies)? nice to see this available soon, as i dont have a 3ds. not sure if it warrants a $50 price point. maybe it can redeem re6.

I'd say it plays more like RE4.

It's closer to RE4 but thanks to its setting there are more tight corridors. Also...and this is gonna be interesting how it translates to a console, it is mission structured. There are some light puzzles but you can tell the campaign was made with the 3DS in mind.
I do hope they take this as an opportunity to make the blob enemies a little more reactive or less bullet spongy. Still, this is the best RE game since RE4 and I'm excited to see it come to a wider audience. I'll probably double dip.

It plays closest to RE4 I think, but with some of the changes we've seen in RE5/6 . You could aim and move at the same time if you have a circle pad pro so I expect that'll be back.
Interesting. As a die-hard Mercenaries fan, I know I wouldn't pass up even a port of Mercenaries 3D to the Xbox 360. An original game seems like a bit much, but I'd still spend money on Mercenaries Reunion for RE6 (maybe adding Hunningan, Simmons, along with Claire and other mainstays?). Then again, I'm still hoping for RE4 dress Ada to be made into DLC.
From what I've seen, Revelations looks like it has RE5 controls, but in an RE4 setting/pacing (but with more advanced B.O.W.s).
I loved Revelations and consider it the best RE since 4. The enemy design is a bit bland, which is a real missed opportunity. There's lots of truly disturbing stuff in the sea, but most enemies are just generic leech monsters. The game really succeeds because of its setting, which actually manages to feel creepy and isolated. One of my favorite elements from early RE games is the exploration, and this is the first to really focus on that. The missions that take place off the boat aren't as interesting, but they're no worse than RE5 or 6 areas.
The multiplayer was also great. The addition of Borderlands elements (a leveling system, randomized gun drops, and special enemy variations [giant, small, extra fast, extra tough]) made for a lot of fun.
My point is that I will definitely pick up Revelations for 360. Probably not at full price, but eventually.
Revelations managed to bring the horror back into Resident Evil.

Thank god for that. Ever since Resident Evil 2 turned the series into a Hollywood action spectacle I've been wanting the series to go back to its original horror roots.

I just hope it doesn't have a lot of the backtracking the earlier ones did.
That said 50 bucks is a bit much, 40 seems more reasonable but its Capcom so I doubt reasonable is in their vocabulary.
I might still get it though depends on if any other games at out when it is released.
