In which game does the famous Chris v Boulder take place? I know at this point it's a running joke/meme about the character, but I guess I haven't ever experienced it first hand. I've got fairly limited RE experience. I've played 4 all the way through, Revelations all the way through, about four hours of 5, and only the Leon campaign in 6.

A had some friends that played through RE5 co-op and would tell their stories as they played. During a village fight, they got separated and were fighting off the baddies on their own. My friend playing Chris said he went to punch a stunned baddy and they literally exploded. Turns out the Sheeva friend shot an explosive nearby to cause the explosion but it happened to be timed perfectly to the punch.
That would go on to expound upon the legendary arms of Chris.

Didn't Chris lose his memory in 6 by getting hit in the head with a rock?

It had something to do with Finn (FIIIIINNN!!!) dying a horrible death. Oh and I guess some other soldiers died too, but they didn't got names like Finn (FIIIIINNNN!!!) did, so they don't count.
I've been trying to catch up with the thread: read back to about page 48 or so. I've beaten each chapter of the game, and overall I really liked it. There were a few gameplay issues that I had: getting knocked down by firearms and repeatedly hit was one. Another was that there was an incentive to die: e.g. getting all of your health back. Though field medic pretty much eliminated the problem of dying altogether. I also didn't really like the inventory system, and would have preferred something closer to RE5s. I really liked the briefcase tetris aspect of RE4, and wouldn't have minded terribly if they had kept that, but it would have been difficult to do without pausing the gameplay.
As for the atmosphere and story, I read through all of Dark ID's Let's Play Resident Evil LPs, and honestly no one part or plot of the series is any more or less ridiculous or campy than the rest. Though...
I was screaming at Jake to kiss Sherry. I've never wanted to see two characters shipped so badly.
With aggressive and numerous enemies, I felt that the control scheme was very good. I'm going to start the Dead Space series next, but I'm wondering what was wrong with RE6's controls? Once I had some experience, and practiced the timing of counters via Mercenaries mode, I felt that the controls were super easy, and the only time I really took any damage on subsequent playthroughs were from zombie grabs that I couldn't avoid (such as being hit right as the head-stomp animation finishes). Even during the J'avo chapters, the cover mechanics were decent. I wouldn't say perfect, but they were more than adequate. And diving to the side, sliding, and rolling (especially into cover) was a huge highlight for me.
About the only thing I really didn't like were a majority of the boss battles. Not necessarily the mechanics of the boss battles themselves, but just the plot devices of them.
How many fucking times do I have to kill Simmons? I mean, fuck. It started with RE:Nemesis, but when I kill something in a big fiery explosion, I want it to stay dead. I understand that it could regenerate from me plugging it full of ammo, but after the 4th time I've seen an immolated corpse rise from the ashes...I'm done.

So Capcom is lazily shitting the bed with the PC port of RE6.
It all began recently when they released the PC benchmark for RE6, but wait a minute this thing has less graphical options than the last few Capcom PC releases... What kind of benchmark is this, it's only DX9, what purpose does it even serve in this day and age? People asked why they were releasing a worse benchmark now than past ones, and Capcom confirmed that despite the fact that their last few PC releases were DX10, instead of this being DX10 or even 11, they are backsliding and releasing it as a DX9 PC title. Their excuse? They want version parity, and don't want to make one version of the game better than the others. Also it is so that they can release the PC version faster and the console and PC versions of their games launch closer together.. you know SIX months apart.
Don't you love the smell of rancid nonsensical bullshit in the morning?

ah fuck, i just pre-ordered this on steam the other day.
knew i should have waiting until the xbox version drop in price (it already has quite abit)
eh i just ran the benchmark, had everything on max settings and my pc destroyed it. not sure why everyone is complaining, still looks great (and unless its a crysis game you never fucking see any improvement with dx10/11 anyway and just bogs shit down, batman: AC being a prime example) and unless the game just drops controller support i dont see what the problem is.
game looks great and the same as xbox, and with sweetfx i can make it look even better so im no longer fussed. originally when i read that about the port i had horrific resident evil 4 pc flashbacks and freaked out. now it just sounds like typical pc elitists bullshit.
from what i saw of the 2 video gameplay demos in there it sure seems like resident evil 4 and 5 style of fun with added moves and the usually cheesiness. i shall see at the end of march if it really is has bad as people say it is, or whether its just people wanting something its not.

People are complaining because Capcom once again thinks its customers are idiots and lies to our faces like we are retards while delivering less now than they have in the past. The past few years, Capcom has been getting blamed (and rightfully so) for a lot of bad business practices, but the one area they could not be blamed was PC ports. In fact the last few years of Capcom PC ports have kind of been setting the standard of how a game should be ported from console to PC. But now they are releasing the PC version of Resident Evil 6 with less graphical features than Resident Evil 5 on PC did, taking longer to do it, and telling us that it's to ensure faster porting. Then they are going back against every standard they have been setting by stripping out graphical features, using this lame excuse about "console parity" that flies in the face of all logic, considering the situation.
They are simply being lazy, yet pretending to be doing us a favor, which is what makes it so insulting. If they had just been honest, or kept their mouth shut and let people think whatever they wanted until this thing blew over, nobody would give half as much of a shit as they do about being lied to their face. So what exactly is so elitist about it?
Did.. you just say that the PC port of Batman: Arkham City is a prime example of a port that adds fucking nothing noticeable in the way of graphical improvements, and does nothing more than bog things down?
in dx11 mode? yes. yes it does. the only noticeable difference in visual quality between dx9 batman and dx11 batman is poison ivy's root/tentacle things. the only difference. i've tested all versions and dx9 runs much, much smoother. so it comes down to playing a consistently smooth game or a constant clunky high teens frame rate where the only visual difference is some fucking prettier tentacles that you would only see for like, 5 minutes of game time. yeah i know what mode i'm playing, thanks.
The Witcher 2, the best looking game out on pc at the moment, (bar crysis 3 and heavily modded games) is a DX9 only game.
honestly, no offence but all the crying about lack of dx11 features all sounds like hot winded whining that is per norm of the pc gaming master race that is typical on graphics card forums where every game is bemoaned on due to lack of some background processing power to justify their expensive 3xsli graphics cards. (i'd like to think you were aware of this given your choice of shock image you used there, based on my memory of that simpsons character)
i'm sure its annoying, and the capcom lying sutff is bad and insulting sure, but in the end, does it really matter? as long as not a resident evil 4 lazy ass port, i don't care. newsflash: people selling you stuff, lie. they all do. it's called marketing. sometimes they screw it up (this being the case) and sometimes they don't and noone notices.
i dont see them stripping out features considering the xbox version certainly does not have dx11 "features."

Dude. What the fucking fuck. First you come off like an absolute console fanboy defending bullshit behavior with vapid apologist logic, and then you go on to say that companies lying about their products 'doesn't really matter'.
ladies calm down, it's starting to sound like a shitting fest in here.
lets do some proper reading, okay?

Secondly: I'm not bemoaning the lack of a few piddling features but a directly measurable backslide in the quality of their ports after the surge of not just high quality, but exceptional ports the last few years.
Thirdly: you keep saying PC elitist this, and master race that. Do you think that repeatedly insulting people with with these tired labels will make them more apt to agree with you?
Fourthly: It's ok to lie as long as they aren't lying worse? It's ok because this is just business as usual? It's just marketing? I happen to do some marketing as part of my overall job duties at my company, and while a sad number of companies do market that way, it's not how I do it, nor ever will. And no it's not ok.
Fifthly: Stripping out features of the engine not the game.
P.S. Not sure if you are aware but the PC port of Resident Evil 4 was put out by Ubisoft not Capcom.
you proved my point with the eurogamer link, thanks for that (check the screenshots, you even see the poison ivy stuff i mentioned and a few other, tiny, tiny little details that do not make it worth it unless built from the ground up like crysis)
a quote from the article:
A cursory 720p comparison of Arkham City's DX9 and DX11 renderers suggests that the differences are quite subtle and nuanced - even the standard DX9 rendition is a significant improvement over the console games. Use the full-screen button to enjoy full HD resolution.
to the rest: Okay.
also not sure why it matters who released the shittie port of re4, it was still a shittie port. it's sheer existence is a shittie port. as long as the port of re6 doesn't come anywhere near that shittie level, then it doesn't matter if its dx11 or not. at all.
i'm done with this discussion, it's fairly ridiculous and i've had my fill of ridiculous arguments in my time.

Yeah, they douched Chris up pretty bad in RE6.
That we can agree on. Piers is the best.
At least he's no longer on steroids.
Now that his arch nemesis boulder is defeated.

Sort of. Raid Mode uses the same levels, but usually gives you an objective and time limit to finish. Plus different enemies depending on difficulty.

Raid Mode was in Revelations and was a great multiplayer mode. Maybe I'm confused what you're asking though.
