apparently the original New 52 pitch for Green Arrow was by an unannounced, but supposedly prominent, writer that cast Ollie as a dude who was fed up with all of the supervillains and bullshit in Star City so he tackles crime the only way he knows how: with a bow and arrow. Presumably he was either a sport archer or kept the shipwrecked story.
instead we got JT Krul writing Ollie Queen as NOTSteve Jobs, making qPads and qPhones and going up against the "Jersey Shore of supervillains".
Yes that is an actual quote from the solicit.
Fuckin' DC.
I'm not shocked at this point. Waiting for John Constantine to become a 15 year old who finds a wizard school has prevented such emotions
I have a podcast now. It's about video games and anime!Find it here.

the secret is to give the mob as much personality as the more colourful villains
just because they're sane doesn't mean they have to be boring
and a sane opponent might be able to challenge batman in ways he's not used to. he's so used to solving riddles and escaping elaborate deathtraps that dealing with mundane corruption might throw him off
My girlfriend bought the first collection and gave it to me when she finished. I liked it alright. The writer does a good thing of depicting the mental state of people who have been through a traumatic event.
Though I'm not really sure where the story is headed. Though it isn't hard to guess there will be Lovecraftian stuff.
Yeah, Locke and Key is really good. It is a bit of a slow boil series, overall, but it conistently manages to get crazier and crazier as it goes on. Without ever seeming like it has gone off the rails, either. Just a slow march of fracturing horror.

It gets so much better. Keep reading. The fifth (out of six) volume just finished up in singles so the hardcover should be out in July or so
normally I wouldn't buy into it at all since it is just him saying STAY TUNED
but apparently he did this sort of thing with the MK9 cast and would just outright say no if a character wasn't going to be in and MAAAAYBE to those who were

Even rephrased that would be a tough sell.

Just localized to Earth?
well it is the best planet
action comics was supposed to be this and then it turned into obama superman vs. capitalism superman and various species of timefuckery
There's a reason the new Batman adventures forgot who Rupert Thorne and Roland Dagget were.
I would love the mob in Gotham to have an insane resurgence because Arkham keeps the police and Batman so busy.

Don't you mean... "enarmoured"?
how you doing
"I'm seein' double here! Four Jokers!"
This is the plot of SpecSpidey.
But
according to Josh Keaton's Twitter, he recorded all of Spidey's lines for EMH, which they then cut out and replaced with Bell's without telling him.
FUCKING LOEB WHY
KEATON IS THE BEST SPIDER-MAN
This is
upsetting.
Josh Keaton is a rad dude who just loves Spider-Man.
Aurora Borealis? At this time of day, in this part of the country, localized entirely in your kitchen?
That and while Bell isn't bad, Keaton is seriously how I read Spider-Man's voice after Spectacular Spider-Man and MvC.
He is just perfect at it.
(His job is being a supervillain and eliminating all joy)
SpecSpidey is how I picture every Spider-Man character now when I think of them.
Everyone's all, "Willem Dafoe is the perfect Norman!" and I'm just, "listen."
In the Captain America episode, we're all in agreement that the Hydra soldier who tried to hide behind Cap's shield was named Bob, right?

Sure! Why the fuck not???
if there was ever anything Doomsday would be perfect for
it is a fighting game
Also, Thor looks a bit like meatloaf (but that might be the batwing hat.) I love the hammer
"Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall posess the power of THUR." (Might be a trick of the light, but I still think it's funny.
the Green Man
At times he sounds a lot like Spike from Gremlins.
Both are geniuses and use a psychotic motif with their gadgets and sadistic humor
Goblin tends to have that effect in many adaptions. Never got that vibe from the comics, though.
In the comics he's too much of a horror character for my tastes
