Hi H/A,

About a year ago I bought a used zune 8gb and it was amazing. It broke and I have been unable to fix it, so now I'm in the market for a new Mp3/Video Player. I checked amazon but the only new zunes available are roughly $300.

Can anyone suggest a cheaper ($100 range) new MP3/media player that I can take on the go to the gym? Thanks in advance!

New Nanos are only $129. Does it have to have video?

I'd prefer video capability since it makes running bearable. Right now though that Nano is looking pretty good. Thanks!

Yeah, I don't know what kind of decent video action you're going to get for around $100. You might just have to forget about that. I can't imagine watching video even on my iPhone while running on a treadmill.

If you're not looking for video anymore anyway, there are some pretty good non-Apple mp3 players out there. My wife's been quite happy with her Sansa Clip, which is significantly less expensive than a nano.

Also for the 'giving up on video' I have a Creative Zen I bought.. 5 years ago or so. Its rugged and reliable, and survived a stint where I drove pizza delivery and so it got played constantly for hours a day and got dropped on parking lots full of slush and crap(it was over a winter) quite handilly. Not sure what they cost now(or hell if Creative still makes them) but when I bought it it was roughly half the price of the comparable Ipod.

iPod Nano 6G 8GB has a pedometer on it which works remarkably well for an MP3-player, it might be an interesting feature for you if you also like to run outside of the gym.

Besides that, it's standard Apple quality (ie: it works, but don't expect to tweak and/or tinker with it). Those Chinese slave workers sure know how to make a proper ipod.
