First, Illidan didn't blind himself. His eyes were scorched out of their sockets by Sargeras when he infused Illidan with power. And again, Illidan searched out for Sargeras only when he knew that Tyrande had chosen Malfurion instead of him, and directly afterwards, defected toward the side of the Burning Legion and told Azshara of Furions plans to destroy the Well of Eternity. Then, while the battle was going on, he snuck into the well, stole some for himself, then fled the battle between two factions of his kinfolk. So what part of this says 'selfless' to you? Maybe Demon Hunters try to mimic the means of which Illidan was granted power because hey, whatever works, but Illidan himself clearly did not have the same values in mind.
This is why I say it sounds like an after-the-fact, Extended-Universe piece of shit. Every single event where Illidan's a selfish dick happens in prequels written after RoC and TFT came out. But in those actual games, and in all of the accompanying stuff like the text I just quoted from BNet, he's not portrayed that way at all. This is exactly why that it really seems like they just went "hmm, better make him a villain" and then retconned in that he's a selfish bastard.
This whole thing almost seems like a "which comic book guy could beat which comic book guy" argument, to me. I mean, arguing about the relative combat potencies of fantasy characters seems a little...well, it just isn't my particular brand of bourbon.
That's not...like, that's not at all what we're talking about. Relative combat potencies? We're talking about the character's personality and underlying motives, not whether Spider-Man could beat Cloud in a fight.
What about the Naga? Illidan called them from the sea, and they agreed to help on the condition that he would help them get their revenge on the Night Elves (and every other land walking race)
So, you guys that play wow should stop going to the forums and clogging them up with " oh god they made my lightblast/darkblast whatever ability do one point less damage I'm going to fucking quit until you fix it!"
That way Blizzard can focus on developing the movie they announced about half a year back now.
So seriously stay out of those forums so they can use their staff for more important things.
Also stop finishing the high level instances and then demanding more. I want a movie dammit.
I know Mall of Georgia is doing the IMAX thing but thats too far of a drive for me.
Why did they build that huge assfuck mall in the middle of fucking nowhere?
That's happening all over the South. I'm assuming it's an effort to increase population density in bum-fuck nowhere areas. You should see the areas surround Berkeley and Charleston in South Carolina. There's a shit-ton of cleared out land for commercial construction over there.

He never even attempted to do that. He even used the naga to help save Tyrande. He does not have a problem with lying to or betraying people for his cause. He did it to the Burning Legion more than once.
Vashj enjoys Kael's company much more than Illidans, at least according to wowwiki. Still not sure who she is working for at the moment, though. None of the coilfang (the dungeon hub where she is) instances have any elves or demons. Though one of them has some gnome slaves.
People are currently working on the 25 man part of coilfang where you kill her, I'm sure her defeat will answer some questions (like what the fuck she's doing with all that water).
So I got Flyboys in on my netflix and was watching it last night, and all I knew about it was that it was about WWI air combat.
The movie gets to the part where they first arrive at the French airfield, and I blurt out to my fiancee "This would be so awesome if it had Jean Reno in it."

Vashj was also conveniently absent from Illidans crusade to rescue Tyrande, which is the closest thing he's done that could be considered "for his own people"
Defender, have you heard of the plans for the Prince of Persia movies, to be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer? I really don't know how i feel about that.
Reading that kind of turned my stomach. Prince of Persia does not need this. On the other hand, the whole original concept of Prince of Persia was really reminiscent of old action movies like Sinbad or whatever, so it could be cool. But the way they do movies now, I feel like it wouldn't come out looking like Sinbad, or the original Prince, or even Sands of Time. I feel like it would end up like Warrior Within.

She herself was absent, yeah. But the naga forces were not.
Also, killing Tychondrius was a pretty nice thing to do.
And making two attempts at destroying the frozen throne was also pretty OK.
All in all, he's done a lot of nice stuff for people who treat him shit.

Then oh man BAM Jean Reno walks up. So happy.
