I actually like angry Superboy. Yeah, it's a cliche, and I wish he would put on a fucking costume, but I think it makes sense given his origins and so on.

Asshole Superman is dumb, yes. I've noticed that Superman is an asshole in a lot of DC animation.

Like the DCAU? Oh wait, no, he isn't. Oh, you must mean Batman the Brave and the Bold in that case. Oh wait, he's not an asshole in that, either.

All-Star Superman? Hmmmmm. No. Crisis on Two Earths or whatever that was called again? Also no.

He was kind of an asshole in the DCAU. Like, in his own series at times, and in the JL series. Remember when Captain Marvel turned up and Superman was just a giant arse to him because clearly there can only be one flying dude with a cape in this town mister, and it aint you, while Billy was trying to be friendly in return?

    I do.

Also in Crisis on Two Earths he was a dick to alt-world Luthor loads. Though I guess you can kind of understand why Superman would see that shiny dome and think "asshole."

I maybe think though, and I suggest this gingerly, that you have a different idea of what constitutes a dickish attitude to me (and maybe other people I don't know).

Making Superman an asshole in Justice League was an interesting choice. Personally, I liked it. It was logically character development from what happened in Superman TAS. It also made him stand out among the Leagues, when he could have easily been the blandest member on the team.

I love EMH being internally consistent. At the end of the season, Hawkeye and a villain are fighting. Hawk eye can't remember the dudes name and he's all "How can you not remember who I am? You punched me in the face!"

Go back to a very early episode, and there's a blink-and-you-miss-it spot where yep, Hawkeye straight punches dude in the face then keeps going on his merry way.

  • LanglyLangly Registered User regular
    that is awesome

So I'm episode 2 into EMH.

These are the rough episodes correct?

    Ross-Geller-Prime-Sig-A.jpg

Yeah. They are actually stitched together micro-episodes that premiered on the internet.

Once the team actually forms it gets better and once Hawkeye, Cap and Panther join it gets great

I love little things like this.

Sensational Spider-man has a background henchmen who gets arrested and later turns out to be Mysterio.

He brings up this fact when he is apprehended and Spider-man has no idea who it is.

    yeah, stick with it

I love Midtown Comics. Every time I go, I am reminded that I have an account with them.

Which I haven't used in a while. I should go fix that.

I lucked out on my Astonishing X-Men omnibus, it was like $45 for the hardcover when I got it off Amazon, so I'm spoiled on that stuff.

(Also hey blank did you know you can get a Marvel Masterworks thing of Iron Fist 1-13?)

It was a pretty ballin store and the guys were very helpful

the whole "spend 100(or 150) and get 20 dollars free" thing was awesome and got me some trades I wouldn't have gotten otherwise!

Unfortunately, I haven't found too many reasons to pop up to Times Square in a while. Used to be I'd hit up Midtown Comics after/before I hang out at Broadway City, but ever since that place shut down...

I don't really like buying big pricey collections of older issues

for the most part I enjoy reading classic comics from like, a historical standpoint.

It is neat to see the origins of lots of characters I know and love and how the medium has evolved and changed over the years.

but I don't get too much out of them besides that and would rather drop 50 bones on something I will enjoy as an actual narrative or whatever

I have the Masterworks volume 1 of Spider-man because that's something I wanna own.

But yeah the story telling is super weird, it's word bubbles and obvious explanations all over the place.
