I love EMH being internally consistent. At the end of the season, Hawkeye and a villain are fighting. Hawk eye can't remember the dudes name and he's all "How can you not remember who I am? You punched me in the face!"
Go back to a very early episode, and there's a blink-and-you-miss-it spot where yep, Hawkeye straight punches dude in the face then keeps going on his merry way.
I love little things like this.
Sensational Spider-man has a background henchmen who gets arrested and later turns out to be Mysterio.
He brings up this fact when he is apprehended and Spider-man has no idea who it is.
The story line where Sandman and Rhino evolve into super-villains was excellent.
I have the Masterworks volume 1 of Spider-man because that's something I wanna own.
But yeah the story telling is super weird, it's word bubbles and obvious explanations all over the place.
Yeah I own a few of the single-issue reprints Marvel has done like Avengers Classic that has the first issue of The Avengers in it because it is pretty neat to see hey this is the first time this team ever existed
so I don't mind dropping 2-3.99 on a reprint every once in a blue moon
but Masterworks and the DC Showcase volumes are way too much
do you also not watch any movie made before the 70's
Oh god no I love a ton of movies made before the 70s
comics are pretty wildly different in that matter, though. Even the most sophisticated silver/golden age comic ain't touching something like Twelve Angry Men or Citizen Kane

I only watch movies that are in super duper 2160P HD 10,000HZ 3D
back in my day, spider-man got a black costume, then fought a mass murderer with a happiness gun, then went insane and started calling himself the spider, then was a guy named ben for a bit
back in my day there was a spider-man cartoon and all I really remember about it is spider-man turned into a werespider once and also I think there was a vampire in it?

This isn't remotely the same.
The mega-expository nature of comics, and their obvious skew towards being written for poorly educated/barely literate demographics makes lots of previous work really tiresome to read. Themes are hamfistedly shoved down the readers' throat, characters self narrate all the time to help the reader along, and they are just often not written very well.
Comics from the past aren't horrible, but many of them aren't enjoyable to read purely from an entertainment standpoint.
I actually like angry Superboy. Yeah, it's a cliche, and I wish he would put on a fucking costume, but I think it makes sense given his origins and so on.
Asshole Superman is dumb, yes. I've noticed that Superman is an asshole in a lot of DC animation.
Like the DCAU? Oh wait, no, he isn't. Oh, you must mean Batman the Brave and the Bold in that case. Oh wait, he's not an asshole in that, either.
All-Star Superman? Hmmmmm. No. Crisis on Two Earths or whatever that was called again? Also no.
He was kind of an asshole in the DCAU. Like, in his own series at times, and in the JL series. Remember when Captain Marvel turned up and Superman was just a giant arse to him because clearly there can only be one flying dude with a cape in this town mister, and it aint you, while Billy was trying to be friendly in return?
I do.
Superman was annoyed at the new kid stealing his thunder, but that wasn't why he was pissed off.
Luthor had been smooth talking Captain Marvel into being all buddy buddy with him, making him think Luthor's an okay guy. Eventually Marvel was on camera after saving the day, going all "Oh yeah, also Luthor is a totally cool dude who deserves a second chance, I don't know everyone hates on him."
back in my day there was a spider-man cartoon and all I really remember about it is spider-man turned into a werespider once and also I think there was a vampire in it?

I grew up on Spider-man.
And as such I thought for a long while that the Jackal was the ultimate Spider-man villain.
*shakes fist* 90s!
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

That is what pissed Superman off.
He didn't even really say that though, he said it's great that people can get second chances and then luthor went nuts with the press all "captain marvel supports luthor's presidency" and that's what made superman mad
In other words Luthor played them both and it worked perfectly because Superman is a dick

It was some odds times we lived through.
Walkerdog on MTGO
TylerJ on League of Legends (it's free and fun!)
I am more than okay with Alan Moore being cross with me
Herbie is the wrong kind of insane. Kirby's insane is THESE ETERNAL SPACEGODS ARE WAGING WAR UNENDING AND LOOK AT THIS FUCKING ART AAAAAAAH MADNESS
Herbie is just fucking weird
you don't know if herbie is just weird! you haven't ever read it!
I have seen quite a few pages posted on forums and what not and it is fucking weird don't act like it isn't
I could post a page of Jack Kirby craziness without context and it, too, would be just as weird, if not weirder, because Herbie is a comedy book and Jack played things completely straight.

Well that is what I am saying
I want to read an insane cosmic comic book drama played completely straight despite being ridiculous
I do not want to read an insane comic book about a fat dude who is beloved by everyone and is basically all-powerful with his mighty lolipop that is played for laughs.
It just isn't something I would want to spend money on!

Does this mean you have to hate yourself, old man
8-)
I did not like it very much for those sorts of reasons.

Oh hey I bought that issue in an omnibus last year.

Immortal Iron Fist Omnibus, Uncanny X-Force vol 1,2, and 3, Remender's Venom vol 1, Taskmaster: Unthinkable, Ultimate Comics Hawkeye.
The best episode was when spiderman turned into the spider and then like punisher, blade, and morbius teamed up to help him.
THAT IS AN AD
Billy Batson is clark kent but cool and competent.
TylerJ on League of Legends (it's free and fun!)
Also it led to Whipstich Zombie's av/sig.
Also a bunch of Ultimate Spider-Man I still have to get.
