It seems like low league Terran players just don't know how to respond to an aggressive Protoss player at all.
Seriously, nothing gets me all frazzled like early Hellions or a couple Zealots and a Sentry nosing around my mineral lines. It's extra stuff to deal with when I'm still trying to remember all the other stuff I need to be doing. Later on, there's more space on my multitasking dance card for "make units"/"maneuver army"/"1a and rebuild" - at six minutes those slots are still full of "AAAH THIRD QUEEN IS LATE" "ALMOST SUPPLY BLOCKED AAAARGHRHG" "MAKE DRONES YOU SCRUB" and so adding aggression is like throwing a hackey sack at somebody who is showing you how he just learned to juggle three at once, man check this out!
Also I upvoted that Reddit thread and I sincerely hope that guy is having a "B-movie adolescent sex-n-drugs adventure comedy" missing-persons experience, instead of the bad kind.

Thanks man! I was talking to him a few days ago and he said he was having a bad time of it lately, I didn't think much of it at the time though.
A Spinecrawler or two would have forced him to wait for several more waves of Marines before he could attack, which would have given you way more time to get some Zerglings out. Skipping Speed/Gas is really greedy too, Speedlings are significantly better against Marines (and everything else) than Slowlings.
I can't give you advice cause I'm only gold, but I love the ambiguous super bowl talk at the beginning.
edit: Okay maybe a little advice. You scouted the 2 rax. 2 rax probably means marines. Marines means build spines, and get banes. You put down a roach warren. But banelings would have been better.

In other news, I played the weirdest ZvP today.
Starts out normal, the guy tries to cannon rush, which I stop with a few drones and two pairs of lings. Okay. Scout down to see what he's doing. Nothing. No units, but also no expansion? Okay, kind of weird. I try to replace the drones I lost and expand down to my natural + two spines. Still hanging out in his natural and seeing nothing. Send an overlord to check out what's going on and nothing's really happening. I scout around the map and see he did not take his natural, he took what SHOULD be an aggressive 3rd as his 2nd base. Make some units, macro up. THEN, I go to take my 3rd, and what do I see? A nexus and some gateways.
UHH
I send a tiny force of lings and roaches (no cannons that I really saw) and they killed his whole base. I'm in wtf mode, so I make a ton of roaches and lings and then go hunting. The guy expanded like 4 times randomly across the map. It was so bizarre, because he also had NO units and basically no defenses other than a few cannons. A hit squad of like 24 roaches and 12 lings wiped out all his bases. He tries some DT play to stop the hit squad, for some reason, but I just A-moved to his next base. I kill his last building. Victory.
Just played a game of 2s where a guy made about 20 High Templar. He was using storms for like, a mutalisk. We still lost because they both expanded like 3 times more than us and they had way more stuff, but at least its a loss due to not properly scouting bases and reacting, which we can improve. I don't think there's anything more frustrating than being even on all fronts except for the enemies arbitrarily larger army. I know it comes down to mechanics, but its hard to see where to improve. DTs are also frustrating, as are mutas, but now I'm whining :P
I was drunk last night and lost to a diamond league random -> 12-drone rush. I don't think I can ever play again.

I also tried warp prism all-ins against every Terran I faced, but in the time it takes you to elevator into the main they've pulled all their SCVs and emptied the bunkers. Worked once in 4 tries.
But I went like 10-1 against Zerg last night. 1 loss was to the drone rush. *gulp*
I think zvz is best handled with 15 pool, 16 gas, 16 hatch unless they do sub 13 pool against you... then you are dead. but you would have been anyway. if you get close air positions do 15 hatch after you overlord scouts their base.
When I am playing against an early aggressive zerg on one base I try to make speedlings and just swarm them, but this is of course almost hard countered by banelingz. I have seen a couple of really good zergs still do speedlings against speedling baneling and have a lot of success with cost efficient trades of 1-2 speedlings per baneling. Catz does a good job of showcasing this.
Just getting to 2 base in zvz is such a good feeling though. If you see baneling nest with your first set of ling scouts get some spines at your natural. tends to keep you alive, with double queen on ramp of course. You should be able to scout roach before it leaves his base, so 2-3 spines makes that really easy to deal with.

Do you see early pool? if yes, you might be dead, and thats ok!
safest b/o in zvz is just 14/14 into baneling nest
v early pool you should be able to hold off somewhat easily, as long as you mineral walk your drones/don't let any spines get up
v 14/14 the baneling nest keeps you safe against whatever they're doing, and from there you can choose whether to be aggressive with your banes or try to expand yourself and be defensive
v 15 hatch you need the baneling nest for if they try to overwhelm you with lings (as they have more larvae than you do), and then from there you can either just ling/bane all in, or put pressure on your opponent with your earlier speed/banes and expand behind it

Drop a spine, if you have your natural, a spine and >2 banelings with some lings still up in case you have to morph more banes, along with map vision, you are usually safe to transistion to roaches. Provided your opponent also has their natural. Until they take it you should probably be bracing for the next wave of allins, though for some of those you will need roaches probably, like a roach/bane attack. If they leave their base with big numbers of pure ling again make some more banes and split them up, use the spine and some lings to control individual lings being sent in to detonate your banes.

So, I may be the minority here... but 1-2 spines with 2-3 queens and like 2 evo chambers cutting off space works great for me. I too, hate speedling baneling wars. if you can get on even terms on 2 base I like upgrading melee and carapace and going into infestors for their inevitable muta switch. yes they could micro well with muta and make your life difficult, but plat-diamond are just bad at that sort of thing. aaaand your speedling counter attacks freaking own them because if they build lots of spines you can just walk into the main. assuming they dont block it well. If the do... infestors man. they are great. If you ever get to 3 base(3 base zvz?!?!) I like ultras
I tend to die against early roach busts, but thats just because I try to build too many drones. spines, evo chambers and queens = more than good enough defense.
oh, and I think roaches are bad in almost every situation. except to put pressure on terran before they expand. that is the only good point for roaches. they suck. and I hate roach infestor wars more than I hate speedling baneling wars. but thats just me.
Yes, but its hard to put pressure with roaches without speed. Ideay, once you stabilise on 2 base, just pump drones and scout for aggression/tech choices - if he's taken all 4 gases, he's probably going muta, for example.

promotion isn't based on division rank, it's based on your (invisible) mmr
if you are consistently facing and beating silvers, you will be promoted
