    Goddamnit.

They have shit for toys in my area. I drove around for an hour and a half, looking in Toys R Us, Target, Walmart... they all had the same three toys from Dark of the Moon. Anything else was some $2.99 one-flip-to-transform crap.

    Ugh.

    I want some Prime toys.

EDIT: Snagged a Bumblebee from Prime on Amazon. There are only 9 left @ $10.99. Other figures from Prime look to be fetching around $40 on average.

I convinced a very nice Target employee to go to the back and get the box of Prime Deluxes, after I found him the number to look them up with. Got Cliffjumper, Wheeljack and Soundwave. I'm not really interested in Soundwave, but I know it's the rarer one (just one in the box, two of all the others. I ignored Bumblebee.) so I grabbed it. Anyone need him?

I also picked up a teeny Arcee and Vehicon. I guess they're not in the first Prime Deluxe wave?

    Transformers: Squadron 13

Many stellar cycles ago, Autobots and Decepticons were at war for the fate of Cybertron. The fighting was at an impasse; neither side would give way. And in their desperation, the Autobot leaders made a decision. Swallowing their pride, they begged for the help of an unaligned scientist-Toolbox.

Giving him the resources he needed to create whatever his brilliant mind could invent, they took him away to a distant planet so that he could do his work far from the battlefields. Knowing that they could never let the Decepticons steal the technology that they hoped would win them the war, the Autobot general in charge of the project, Trailblazer Prime, told only 2 others of the lab's location, so that they could escort Toolbox back to Cybertron when his work was done.

After what seemed like ages, Trailblazer Prime received a cryptic message from Toolbox, in which he gleefully declared his success in creating something that would guarantee victory for anyone so lucky as to own it.
The record of what happened after that is vague.

Apparently, one of the Autobots charged with bringing Toolbox back went rogue. This young soldier, known as Bolt (both for his skill with engineering and his ability to escape at top speeds), murdered his partner and Toolbox, stealing the technology he had created and fleeing across the galaxy. His reasoning for doing so is unknown.

By the time Trailblazer Prime realized that something had gone wrong with the mission, he lay dying on the battlefield, laid low by a brutal blow from a Decepticon combiner.

With Trailblazer Prime dead, all of those closely involved with the project were dead or, in Bolt's case, gone. With the war raging on all around them, it took many stellar cycles for someone in the Autobot chain of command to dimly recall an order for a secret project, and the involvement of a soldier who had now gone AWOL...

An Autobot agent on Earth, sent there to keep an eye on the galaxy's foremost expert on space bridge technology, claims to have seen Bolt heading for the Western coast of a country known as "the USA". Apparently, a Decepticon agent spotted him as well, and seems to have recognized the potential of the technology he caries with him...

Now, the unknown technology that lies in the hands of Bolt must be recovered. Should it fall into the hands of Megatron and his army, the Great War could start again...

A team of talented Autobots is being sent to Earth to recover the technology, and Bolt-dead or alive.

    This team is Squadron 13.

    Do you accept your mission?

    Transformers: Squadron 13

Squadron 13 is a play by post game for the SE++ transformers community. It's run by me, the humble BFL, and played by you!

Squadron 13 is open to anyone who wants to play. However, it's probably best to stick to a small number of players to start with.

The game is going to be narrative-heavy. There will, of course, be good old dice-rolling mechanics, which I'll be working on. Know this, though: this is all about the story! There will be challenges that you will not be able to win through force alone.

More specific details (where we'll be playing, mechanics, etc.) Will be worked out soon.

    For now, have this FAQ!

Q: Who are we playing as?
    A: Autobots!

Q: What continuity does this take place in?
A: I'm taking inspiration from Animated for this one. If you're unfamiliar, this is what you need to know: Cybertron is still around, and is under Autobot control. Megatron and the Decepticons are still around, of course. The title "prime" is given to multiple high ranking Autobot military officers, and more than one autobot holds the title at any given time.

Q: Where does this game take place?
A: To start, we'll be on earth, somewhere on the West Coast... San Fran? San Diego? I'll keep you posted. You'll get your mission assignments soon.

Q: Is it true that we're playing as a combiner?
A: Yes! The autobots of squad 13 are a combiner team. I'll keep you posted about how this will work. While Squad 13 is combined, one player at a time will be given control of the combined 'bot. A die will be rolled once a turn to see who controls the combiner that turn.

It's also true that Squad 13 may not be able to combine at any old time. Otherwise, it would be hard to challenge you! Expect the ability to combine to be used only when circumstances call for it...

Q: Will this game involve a lot of characters from the existing fiction?
A: Because I don't want this to become too fanfictiony, interactions with existing characters will be kept to a minimum. That being said, you will run into some famous heroes and villains. This is going to be rare, so when it does happen, it's big. When you team up with a well known Autobot, it means you've got a big heroic moment incoming. And when you find yourself faced with a infamous Decepticon, it means you're in real trouble...

Q: Can I help you design/plan/write/tell you your names for Transformers suck?
A: I need all the help I can get!

    Character Creation
More specific character creation info will come later. For now, I need the following:

    Name

    Brief Backstory

    Alt-mode

    Size

    Special weaponry/equipment

Be as creative and clever as you can be with this! There are only a few restrictions, which are: you MUST play as an autobot, you can't be smaller than Bumblebee or bigger than Optimus, and you need an Altmode that could blend in fairly well on Earth (although it doesn't have to be an extremely common vehicle).

Post your character ideas in the thread! I'm excited for this!

In my mind, Trailblazer Prime has a horseshoe moustache, transforms into a duelie pickup and is voiced by Cullen doing an even more obvious John Wayne impression. He maybe even spits some type of energon chewing tobacco. He would totally be best friends with Kup.

I have a feeling I got the entirely wrong idea from that name, though.

I was going to make a comment about that being a little too close to Sector 7, but looks like you noticed as well.

When I searched for the name, it pulled up one of the Primes from an episode with a fake evil Prime calling Trailbreaker 'Trailblazer'.

Also, I changed the name because I realized Squad 7 is from Valkyria Chronicles, and I knew BB would mock me if that was the title.

    Name : Treadrazer

Brief Backstory : For most of his life, Treadrazer knew nothing but work. Hard work. The kind of spark-crushing grind that could drive a 'bot insane. Assigned to a mining job on an immense asteroid that would take thousands of stellar cycles to finish, he was just one of dozens of workers. Assigned to move rubble, haul ore and basically travel all over a giant rock carrying slightly smaller rocks for the foreseeable future, Treadrazer decided he would have to break the monotony before it broke him. Rebelling through modifications to the nearly identical body-type all his fellows haulers wore, his actions soon grew as loud and oversized as his form. Eventually Treadrazer was singled out for his behavior, and was labelled too 'disruptive' to continue to work at the mine. Suddenly unemployed and homeless, with no applicable skills for any position that didn't involve mind-numbing tedium and thankless hard work broken up by sudden bursts of violence and wanton destruction, it's no surprise he wound up in the military. He couldn't be happier with his new career, and most of his squadmates have been very glad to have him on their side...if they can stand his exaggerated personality, inappropriate outbursts and history of property damage and friendly fire incidents.

    Alt-mode : Monster Truck

    Size : Large

Special weaponry/equipment : Ultra-high-durability tires and improved armor; remarkable suspension and towing capacity; incredible horsepower, strength and crushing ability

    Name:Spotlight

Backstory: Trained in first aid and rescue tactics, Spotlight was proud to be a member of an elite team of Autobot warriors back on Cybertron. Unfortunately, they were maybe too elite-nobody ever needed Spotlight's help! Feeling useless and underappreciated on his home planet, Spotlight jumped at the chance to go to Earth, where he quickly embraced his newfound and self-declared role as the protector of the little "humans". He's so eager to help out that he sometimes forgets that the tenacious fleshy things don't always need his assistance. Even if he sometimes (often) makes mistakes, Spotlight has a spark of gold beating in his core.

I opened up my Prime figures. Wheeljack is awesome, but I wish he had some sort of arm swivels. Soundwave is also great but his legs are kind of awkward. Cliffjumper isn't really that bad but his legs are too short and he looks stubby. If that was his only mold then it wouldn't be as bad but since you have to compare it to the FE mold, it just really doesn't look like it holds up.

I also got tired of waiting for the restock of Warbot Defender to come in at BBTS so I got one from someone and it ended up a good amount cheaper especially since I did a partial trade for him. He's actually better than I expected because I had heard so much about how he's so floppy, but the only loose parts on mine on the knees, and that doesn't really seem to affect much in robot mode. I also ordered a set of heels because that most certainly does affect poseability.
