I guess I need a nudge in the right direction(once I manage to be pulled away from Katawa Shoujo). Just killed the Royal Ripeness, and we're supposed to open a new gate somewhere, and I have no clue where.
Hmm, anyone? (I finished Katawa Shoujo.
)
Depends. Are you talking about the postgame? If so, it'll be an oddball gate with 0 of 1 fragments. If it's in the normal game, I believe you just open the map and it says where to go.
Maybe I missed it, but is there a bestiary you can look at in the menu?
I don't think this has been answered but it's right there in the menu right above the Datalog I think. If you want to see which monsters you've missed, you'll have to compare it with a 100% Bestiary list.
If you're anything like me, like 75% of your missing monsters will be at Archylte Steppe and require weather changes.

Normal game.
And I have no clue. Just finished Snow's area. Archlyte Steppe has a blocked gate, and there's Oerba, which is mostly sealed off.
This is completely frustrating. I just started the game, am a few hours in. I noticed when I left New Bodham that the map % was at 95. I came back from New Bresha Ruins and found another 3%, but that last 2% must be either an unmarked tiny part of the map, or the undiscovered piece is so well blended in, I can't spot it at all. That's highly annoying, especially when there's prizes for 100% map discovery.

So the Albino Lobo that I've been using since 5 AF is getting a little long in the tooth. His damage is still competitive, but his HP is super low. Lower than Serah and Noel at this point.
I'm at 700 AF now, any suggestions for a Rav I could pick up that wouldn't require too much effort to get up to speed?
And I have no clue. Just finished Snow's area. Archlyte Steppe has a blocked gate, and there's Oerba, which is mostly sealed off.
If those are your only two gates left, go with Oerba. Don't bother with Archylte Steppe's gate until you're near the end and have a free wild artefact.
Which Oerba are you talking about anyway?
El Fantastico, have you tried the balcony of Serah's house?

Head to Bresha 005 again and find the artefact for the other gate in the area. There are two artefacts that show up after you beat Atlas.

Buccaboo Aces from the Archelyte Steppes are pretty awesome. He gets Gilfinder 2, to boot.

Any tips on where to find them/what weather?
Give me one sec.
E: If I recall, I found them in the dusty weather (the default weather) and it was either in the desert area with the giant cactuar statue, or on the way there. Sorry I can't be more precise. They are pretty awesome though.
Is it possible to make a chocobo both competitive at racing and make it a good combatant in its class role? Like would I be able to make the Silver a champion racer and a super sentinel?

Try walking around the balcony outside Serah's room. I had the same problem, and that suggestion worked for me.

Have them both already, so I'm checking Oerba again.
(The first instance.)
Did you go through both gates in Bresha? (there are three, technically, but one is a Wild gate).
edit: also if you look at the location name on the Historia Map, those grey/yellow symbols represent the number of gates the place has. If it's yellow, you've opened the gate, if it's grey it's still unopened so if worse comes to worst, just search the areas with closed gates.

Sure. You only need around 4 skills on a Silver Chocobo to make it unbeatable in the races, and they're relatively low ranking abilities so can be pushed off his table with things like HP 30%, Resist Phys/Mag etc should you really feel the need to optimise for combat later on.

Balconies as in those two little side sections next to the main door? Yeah, I checked those. Also checked the watery areas beneath all of the houses in the town, and tried to hug every invisible wall to and from the time gate. I can't see any area on the map that I need to check for the last 2%.

I believe he meant at the same time.
The game's not hard, and a max level Silver Racing Chocobo is still a fine Sentinel. If you wanted to make him a godly sentinel then you could use the gold chocobo as your racer, since the gold is just about as good as a red chocobo in terms of stats.

Just to be double clear, you actually walked up on foot and hugged up against the walls in the balcony areas? I had walked through those areas on a chocobo thinking it was enough, but it wasn't. It wasn't until I went up on foot and got right into the corners that it registered.
Other than that... I'd wager a guess that it must be some stupid corner in the town itself. I never did anything other than generic walking outside in the field, so I'm fairly confident it's not out there.

I suggest grabbing a Pulse Gladiator or Goblin Chieftain for your Sen, for what it's worth.
Pulse Gladiator has insane damage resistance by default, and while Goblin Chieftain requires a little more infusion work to get good resistances, it has the single best Feral Link I've seen by a ridiculous absurd margin. (Small heal to your entire party, grants Brave, Faith, Protect, Shell, Vigilance, and Veil)

Yeah that's what I meant. Did you go all the way around it though? It sticks out a bit and it's easy to miss. The only other bit that I can think of is in the low tide shortcut, where you can jump up onto a little metal platform.
He's really powerful (on par with Chichu and Omega) and 1000 needles can go up to 777% syncro, which means he's really good at capturing other monsters.
Wow, Cactuar learns Bravery Feeder and Deprotect Chaser? I think that puts him squarely in the top tier of postgame Commandos, along with Narasimha, Twilight Odin and Omega, with a fraction of the effort required for the latter two.

Finally finished levelling Twilight Odin to 99 with pure power. He attacks quickly, but it looks like he does greatly reduced damage? Really quite frustrating. As you only get one I'm being a little more careful with my fusions on him. How does this look:
Critical: Tetradefense (red lock)
Auto-Haste
Strength +35%
Auto-Bravery
Role Resonance
Resist Elements +20% (innate)
Siphon Boost II
Attack: ATB Charge II
Feral Speed II
Also, does anyone know if red lock abilities can be upgraded via infusion?

Woohoo!
Got Omega on my first try.
EDIT: Not looking forward to gathering all the Power mats to level him to 80, though.

It's even funnier because he's not even taking advantage of Role Resonance at all. It could be doing 20% more damage than that.

Yeah. Definitely doing that next.

Regardless of how I feel about the story, damn is this a good FF.
I might have been a bit overpowered. Sorry, Caius.
