So unless I can dig up my ancient standalone mic and get it working, I'm going to be silent on vent again tonight. I'll go headset shopping over the weekend.
Just a heads up, my area is under a thunderstorm watch for high winds, torrential downpours, large hail & intense lightning, so if I suddenly disappear I've probably lost power / internet, so someone make a save

Hmm, Phyphor, I've tried your "Invite a dude with a claim to a Duchy" to your Court thing and conquered territory but haven't received him as a vassal in my Kingdom. What am I doing wrong?
You need to give him a Duchy in your own realm first.

Oh really?
Hmm...crud, and I've given all of my good ones away.
Yeah, he has to be of equal or higher rank as the title your claiming for him, or he becomes a nominal vassal of whoever holds the dejeure title above him, or independent
If I don't show up, it's because the current line of storms knocked out my power. Tornado warnings all over the place around here.

So after looking at the situation more closely I think I'm going to rescind the bounty on the head of the Seljuk Turks. Still offering ~1000 gold rounded up for the assassination of the Shia Caliph, though. It's easy money, and if you get caught the dishonorable or whatever it is relationship penalty only applies to Muslims.
Also, bum, if you want to get rid of your Antipope without beating up the Pope you can just give him a county. I just tried it and it works.
Good to know. Depends how good a job you doing of keeping moral authority high. :P
Also, storms seem to have largely passed without catastrophe in my immediate area, but around the slightly larger region, ouch.

I might give the Shia Caliph a shot once he stops moving with his army so I can send my spymaster in. I am hovering around 51 intrigue after all.
I've been in this restaurant for a thousand years and I'll presumably be late. You guys can start without me and I'll just join at 11 or whenever I get back.
Yeah, I was going to have to rush things to be ready anyway. I'm happy with starting later (west coast time working for me for a change - everything's coming up melo!)
So literally a couple days after we start playing, my ruler dies at 19 and his son takes over. The son was about nine months, he had turned one by the time I remembered to take a screenshot. So... this should be fun. He's won two wars and inexplicably didn't face any rebellions. He's also fifth in line to the Hungarian throne, but more of them are being born all the time and he doesn't have enough intrigue to efficiently eliminate them yet.

Looks like the first player vs. player war should start soon, whether it's jdarksun vs. Captain Carrot, enlightenedbum vs. PolloDiablo, Aegis vs. Phyphor, or something else.
I have no conflict with him. I'd be fine with giving those provinces back, but there's no real way to do that, just like Phyphor couldn't give jdarksun Navarra.

The British (Irish) Isles are going to be allied if this kid makes it to marriage age.

I'm busy taking Bavaria at the moment. Phyphor's a giant potential thorn in my side but we're both kind of stalled on claims for the moment. Also we're allies!

Hey, do you have a claim on Steiermark yet?
I ask because the person who holds it is technically the Duchess of Provence, but if she loses the province I could take the title and use it to press ducal claims and get a little closer to my kingdom...

Not yet. I would have had it, but that Courtier that would have given my Osterreich and then Steiermark and then a territory in Bavaria up and died before I could get him his title. Still pisses me off.

Makes sense in the case of Bohemia. That's the one of out 3 vassals that has a negative opinion of me, and his is the highest at -20 to -30. I'm trying to work on getting him to like me so I can change Bohemia succession laws but it's a bit tricky.
Now on the other hand, if he does rebel I get the even better option of stripping him of one of his two Bohemian Ducal titles, each of which consists of half of Bohemian territory. I'm mildly wishing he would rebel at this point.

Intriguing. I think I have found a foolproof, easy way of gaining control of all of Bavaria without a war.
It turns out, marrying into Bavaria was not as much of a problem as I thought it was (due to being allied and thus wars causing prestige loss). This is because I then get a plot to kill the current heir of Bavaria, their spymaster. This plot suceeds and then guess who becomes Bavaria's heir?
My wife.
And because Bavaria's spymaster is now dead, assassinating Bavaria's Duke has a 57/3% chance of success, placing my wife as the Duchess and one of my sons as its direct heir.

Game days are always fun. You get to see all your practice plans fall apart due to some fluke death during the actual MP game because the RNG hates you and wants you to suffer.
I think it's amusing that y'all play ahead so much. I'll look at the game state at the point where we've saved to see if there are any opportunities that I'm missing, but I pretty much never play ahead - it's too likely to make me mad if something good that happens in my playthrough fails to happen in the group game.

It's entirely possible we will be the first though, if I don't go independent vs an AI Emperor
