So this is bizarre. I was playing a few years ahead (mainly to see how the ongoing implosion of the Byzantine Empire might play out) and somehow my main heir has been disinherited, leaving her son to inherit everything but the Kingdom of Sicily and her youngest sister as my primary heir. No idea how this happened.
Hopefully it won't happen in the actual game, but if it does, guess it's open season on my heir again.
Edit: And now it switched back. Weird.
On the positive side, I am nearing 1000 gold per year, the arrival of the Teutonic Order should make conquering the rest of the Muslim world easier, and I think I'm finally ready to take on the Byzantines.
My guy gives zero fucks about assassinations. Between the last two play sessions he's ordered at least a dozen successful hits, including his first wife, his infant son and his nephew, and has been caught at least four times. But he's still on the throne, the line of succession is set up pretty cleanly, and he's one province away from crowning himself King of Burgundy.
Duke Cesare - he might be an unrepentant bastard*, but he gets shit done.
* This is literally true on both counts - he's the bastard son of my former Duke, who seems to have been hastily legitimised while his father was bleeding out from an assassin's dagger, plus with all the times he's been caught ordering hits his piety score has been negative for a good long time.
I think I'm just going to spend the next 50 years or so taking those last few provinces and do massive construction, building up my territory now that I have most of the provinces I really want. I'm going to see how much extra cash a feudal tax will bring in too

I kind of love the idea of all three of you, me and Aegis all seceding from the HRE at the same time. See how the Kaiser feels when suddenly the only territory he controls is in Finland. Or France and Burgundy could declare independence and Aegis can finally play out his Emperor fantasies.
I think Aegis is in for the long haul, I'll go out eventually. If you don't have your kingdom by that time and you go out too, I can offer to vassalize you, create the kingdom and then give you the title if you want. At the very least it will be a HRE that controls less than 50% of the HRE de jeure territory!
Also, if I get bored with peace I might go into Poland a bit I guess, or Denmark, but my fast expansions is pretty much done for now
I'll be surprised if I don't manage to form the kingdom in tomorrow night's session, honestly. Either my chancellor will fabricate a claim on Bern or I manage to find a claimant to one of the outstanding counties that I can invite to court, or something else falls into my lap. I'm confident that I'll be king by 1200.
What I'm going to do after that, once I'm surrounded by all you big boys with nowhere to expand? Not a clue.
Well at this point, it's either go north skipping me, east skipping aegis or fight one of us. You could try some political machinations, see if you can become the Byzantine Emperor I guess, if you can pull it off and re-unify the empire you'll have a huge tax and army base over there.

Yeah, once I finish cleaning up the outstanding provinces in the area that fall under Burgundy but don't belong to you or Aegis I'll have nowhere nearby to go. The fairest fight I'd be likely to get against another player would be if I tried to continue moving west and snatch Toulouse from Carrot, but meh. I'll probably spend a few decades trying to whip all those Occitan/Frankish peasants into proper Italians and building keeps, but we'll see.

I just picked CK2, can anyone link me to somewhere where I can learn more about how to play it. I am a fan of strategy games in general but have very little experience with Paradox games.

I think in the long-term I might have to move my capital east. I don't want to abandon glorious Rogeria, but my Empire quintuple Kingdom is beginning to lean toward Asia.
So assuming Pollo posts or PMs me, 8 PM is good for everyone else. So that is indeed the plan.

Awesome. I'm in and out today due to house stuff but 8 pm looks solid. Sorry about dropping Thursday again, so hopefully this makes up for it and we get right back on track.
Poland is Irish, Aegis. As is basically everything east of the Oder. :P
EDIT: And north of the Carpathians, because fuck fighting Sicily.
I think you mean RACE YOU TO IT! *starts running*
You've got two provinces and vying for a third, I've got one province and about to take a second with one more than I swear I will Vassalize if she would just let me.
I also have all the Hungarian possessions once my mom dies and I fight a quick war. Then I'll be King of the obviously adjacent Ireland, Scotland, Poland, and Hungary.

Pretty good session tonight, over 10 years this time! The Franco-Germanic Empire continues to tighten it's grip on the outer provinces
Though really I should just man up and declare war on her to gain my Duchy.
