I'm not converting the heir or his one current child. I'm just trying to wrestle a son or daughter out of him with my half-sister before the heir's sister kills him in the plot that I'm monitoring and can't tell her to end.

Ahahah, okay, two things:
1) When my half-sister's husband ascends to the throne of Byzantium, the entire empire tells him "Fuck no" and starts a war to impose their own choice on the throne. And I'm talking about at least 30 different counts/duchies that join this war against him, it is amazing.
2) When/If my half-sister has a son, he becomes heir to the Byzantine throne
This is amazing. I don't know what possessed the AI to accept this matrilineal marriage but it is hilarious.
Notes of Branwen Mathrafal, Duchess and Spymaster of Axum
August 5, 1087
Being the daughter of a mere Welsh courtier, and one with numerous interests that most would consider scandalous, it was a great shock when my father received the message asking for my hand. I did not expect to marry, I feared I was doomed to live my life in the walls of a monastery, and yet here was a ruler, a Duke from the Kingdom of Abyssinia of all places, proposing marriage.
My passage, as one might expect, quite arduous. Through the mediterranean and up the Nile, fearful of raiders all the while. My arrival in Axum, however, was greeted with great hospitality and enthusiasm. My new husband explained that he had sent out scouts and messengers seeking a wife skilled in the art of deceit and subterfuge, and that duties would extend out of the ducal palace and into the courts of other rulers. The dagger of an assassin, he told me, is the isolated beacon of Christianity that is Abyssinia's only protection against the infidel hordes that wait downriver. Naturally, I was happy to take on these duties.
With pride he relayed to me the history of his dynasty. Founded by none other than the Biblical Solomon, his dynasty ruled this region for nearly one thousand years. They were the one of the four most powerful Empires in the world, he boasted, surpassed only by Rome, China, and Persia, and the first to convert to Christianity. He speaks bitterly of his Zagwe liege, whose family usurped the kingdom only two hundred years ago, and of the Muslims that now threaten his realm's very existence.
Despite fighting losing wars and serving under a King he despises, my new husband is optimistic that he and his family will go on to restore and perhaps even exceed the glory of the Axumite Empire. I fear that I cannot join him in this, but I shall do my best as a wife and a spymaster.
I wouldn't mind joining in the next time you guys get one of these games going if there's a spot. The CK games are my favorite strategy games. Mainly because I tend to act like I think a real country would act and they're one of the strategy games were the victory condition isn't capture everything.

We're only twenty years in and some of us still have only one county, so you could join on Tuesday without being at much of a disadvantage (as I understand Pollo and Comradebot are doing).
Funny you should mention that - I was bored and was just looking through the save to find counties that would be good starting points for people who want to join up for the second session, and Minsk is on the list. Here are some ideas:
Nurnberg - current count is 19 with very good stats, already has an heir
Pfalz - count is 38 with very high martial skill, has 5 kids
Minsk - count is 24, has 2 sons and claims on 2 different Duchies (but not the heir to either of them)
Macon - count is 32, has 4 sons and a claim on the county of Lyon (which will be tough to get, since Macon is France and Lyon is across the border in the HRE)
If you want to give yourself a slight head start and begin with 2 counties, like I did, there are a few decent options as well:
Parma/Corsica - this one could be tricky, the current count is 54 and gavelkind means his two sons would each inherit one of the counties when he dies. A little judicious trimming of the family tree would be helpful.
Korinthoi/Momevasia - down in Greece, which can be a fun place to start if you can find a way to work around the high crown authority of the Byzantines. Current count is 14 years old, so lots of options
Kiev/Korsun - might be a little close for comfort with our Croatian/Hungarian players, but a solid starting setup
And if you're really crazy, take a crack at the count of Abkhazia over in Georgia. He's currently got two counties and a 4-year-old son. He's heir to the Kingdom of Georgia, but that's a pretty precarious position (Georgia only controls 4 provinces and shares borders with some larger nations that might come calling). He's also a lunatic. Which can be fun to play, if very stressful.
Actually, I was wondering if there would be interest in setting up an EU game for those of us who might find joining the US game a bit of a pain? I mean, the usual 10 PM EST game would be 4 AM for me, so it'd be cool to get a more humane time to get some kingly crusading going on.
Game 4, Nashville @ Detroit Tuesday April 17 7:30 PM

*Game 6, Vancouver @ Los Angeles Tuesday April 24 TBA (10 or 1030)

*If necessary.
Self-righteousness is incompatible with coalition building.
I might be late tomorrow, there's an OFA meeting tomorrow at 6, and I have no idea how long it'll take, particularly if I can finagle an employment-related conversation.
The former king & his family still hates my guts. The good news is I'm slowly (ever so slowly) cleaning out Denmark proper; and set to maybe inherit Livonia (from a vassal, ideally I'm trying to make every duke be of my family) and... Kent! Ever-rebellious Kent!
Every plot I made was foiled by failed assassinations, a traitorous merc company, and my ruler dying in a relatively pointless battle. It was not a good night to be the Count of Minsk. Only redeeming part was my spymaster discovering corruption from my liege and me getting a quick 50 gold for it right before we stopped.
Is it OK if I try to kill off the current King of England and his heir? I won't inherit anything, I just really want my grandson half-nephew (?) to ascend to the throne before he converts so we can have a Monophyisite England.
Also, if anyone is wondering, my immediate goal is to create an expanded Hanseatic League and see how high I can get the tax base in the Danish territories (plus Holstein)

Dax continues its slow climb towards a Duchy while simultaneously marrying into the hilariousness that is the Byzantine Empire. I now own all of de jure Gascognes but I have to figure out a way to take my Duchy title from Aquitaine who currently holds it.
Meanwhile, my half-sister successfully matrilineally married the heir to the Byzantine throne who then became the Emperor. They subsequently had 2 sons and a daughter and are now spreading Occitan Catholicism to the new generation of Heirs
Okay, I was supposed to join in, but I was asleep so no.
Still, are there no Europeans interested in setting up a game at a less ungodly hour?

I'm not going to be able to make it tonight, but I don't really mind you guys just continuing since we've had a few rescheduled days so far and it'd be better to get back to an even pace. That and I don't really mind missing one in my current position and can just pick back up on Tuesday.

Alrighty, I should actually be around tonight. I hope I can figure this out...

Kakheti's gone, rest of Georgia and Alania already looks pretty boned (Azerbaijan has hit their stride it'd appear), Jämtland is gone, reconquista is already about lost...
Le sigh, I have no frakkin' clue where to set up shop.
You should be able to just load it up in single player.

Think I'll be the Count of Chud or Zeta. Both have one county (sticking to the theme of the day), Eastern Europe... would only be sorta at threat of LOL ERE/GH.
Make sure you have the save, click multiplayer, the Internet option, and put in the IP address in the first post, then select your guy like you normally would.

Also, come join us on the PA ventrilo server (details stickied at the top of the G&T forum if you haven't used it before). Paradox "stability" means we often need to try a couple times before we get the game up and running, and it's easier to figure out what's going on if you can hear us griping about it...plus it also allows you to, you know, talk to us.

Yay, vent... yall aren't my old WoW guild who wanted to use some new, zany voice chat program that was mostly just annoying.
Honestly, even though I don't talk much the Vent makes the game a lot funner just because things you might not notice get pointed out and people complaining about their plans falling apart for being ecstatic when something works.

So when I say "Heir" I really mean "New Emperor in At Most 1 Year".

Stupid fucking incompetent chancellors.
Though I might manage to get the Croatian crown without taking another county if I play this right.
