Sweet.
I mean, in my test games lately without contributing anything to the Reconquista both Aragon and Castille reform to 10k military-size strength and start bashing in Muslims. Maybe I'll just stagnate for 20 years or so.
I can't remember - are we allied at this point, aegis? I'm not expecting to do much in the next play session and could probably help out some if the AI gets you into too much trouble.

We're not, no, because you have no family members ever :P
If the AI does muck about in Spain, though, you can always offer to join in a Holy War. That requires no alliance and is something I frequently do with Castille and Aragon if they've bitten off more than they can chew.
You were about to lose Navarra (both the Duchy and County) after about 10 years in my playthrough. Shal nearly won the Crusade before the lack of mysteriously dead Caliphs every five years finally allowed them to rally and turn things back. Also possibly having something to do with it: France invaded shal for Poitou, Aquitaine, Normandy, Valois, and one other duchy.
I took Achaea and beat back a Serbian invasion for Ragusa and earning myself 700 gold. So... that would be nice.

Oh, the other thing that happened when I played forward was Bohemia successfully took the crown of Poland and promptly died which basically means Poland was added to the HRE.

His duchy? Ha. I still have just the one county. And killing is expensive, as is Kinslayer, but I guess bribing them would work, though it'd cripple my castle-building efforts.

I've seen this happen in my playthroughs too. The HRE getting suddenly larger after Poland was mysteriously absorbed into them.

Funny thing that's been happening in my test games and I hope continues into the main game:
You remember when I managed to have my nephew become the Byzantine Emperor? Fun times. Anyway, his current incarnation still holds (quite soundly I might add, the man produced quite a line of kids to solidly keep control of the Duchy) the Duchy that houses Constantinople, but has long since been forced off the throne as the Capital of the Emperor keeps rotating throughout the islands.
Well eventually he fights for more control within the Byzantine Empire to grab territory and at one point decides to form the Kingdom of Bulgaria because of it.
Really hope he tries that in our MP game as that's the first time I've ever seen Bulgaria around. My family is awesome!
He's got the territory for it already, I'm pretty sure. Mostly means I'll be needing to marrry into that family at some point.

Given that both Aegis and Krakow are going to be out this Thursday, do we want to just call off that session in advance? Would make it easier for Aegis if he only has to survive one session's worth of AI rather than two...

OK, I think we're only missing bot then. That makes it a go.

Heh. I would totally have forgotten this tonight, except this morning when I was driving in to work, the truck in front of me had a license plate holder that said "proud to be Basque".
So Phyphor says that he got through March of 1153 using the 1151 save, so we can try using that.
I played from the 1152 save again and it crashed in October that time. So ugh.

My theory is that it has something to do with that claim I was talking about. Which I don't have in the game Phyphor got decently into 1153.

Or we could play from there, though I'll want to check out what all has gone on. I'm sure the AI has fucked up my war for Achaea.

The AI gave a county away because I was over the demesnes limit, but other than that I'm fine. Aegis is at war with the Byzantines though. :P

I'd rather not, because god damn that war was boring. Unless there were some utter disasters I vote for the 1153 save that works.

Okay I loaded up the save. Don't do that to me ebum, I had a heart attack!
I'm not at war with the Byzantines. I'm at war with my vassal who's trying to break away again and because of that I'm apparently marching my crusade army through the Byzantine Empire to get back home. Don't ask me why the AI's this retarded but there you go.

I have a great plan now that certain things happened to me shortly into this save, though naturally they won't occur in the actual game because Fate hates me. But if they do...awesome
Meanwhile, Auvergne is trying to rebel from France. Considering that was a province I was going to take from France anyway...this helps a ton. I like this save.

Oh.
That's how I get into war with the Byzantines.
That Byzantine royalty offshoot of my family? Well apparently he's already taken Thrace independent and Thrace consists of a GIGANTIC portion of the Byzantium Empire. So naturally he calls me into this war because I have an alliance.
Yeah, but he'll lose and you can totally ignore it. Plus it lets me take Ragusa (the city) finally.
enlightenedbum on

I tried supporting it just now.
Yea, it's a losing battle even though he starts with about the same raisable troops. He just pisses them away and ends up with a White Peace.

I don't understand. Why does his (possible) low opinion of me make my vassals like him more?
