I wouldn't want to go much faster than 3, because in my experience I'm going to be managing a Mad Max hellhole for the first few decades. Or forever, maybe. I'll miss having some friendly Welshmen nearby.

The only thing I'm curious about is that what happens for those events which automatically pause the game. Hopefully it's disabled for multiplayer or else there'll be a lot of pausing.
Steam is currently telling me that the game unlocks in about 22 hours. That does not make a whole lot of sense in any time zone. Isn't that like 4 PM EST?
Does everyone else see the same?

Unless they've changed it from their other games, those are only paused by default; they'll still pop up, but time keeps going
I tend to run at 5 in the early game at least. But yeah, let's experiment and see how things work.
I was sort of expecting to have a default speed of 3 for everyone with no pausing, but we can always slow things down for a bit if anybody gets into a particularly tricky war. Can't imagine that we'd often want to go faster than 3, though. Gotta figure somebody or other's going to be at war pretty much constantly...
I'm going to be watching a bunch of wars from afar. There isn't a TON to do in Ireland at the start of the game.
Which is fine!
Yeah, I have a feeling that many of us are going to spend the first 10 years or so of gametime just watching how the Reconquista unfolds and waiting for some of the big boys to implode.
You could always send us some help. Castille and Leon are far more zealous and less fratricidal than in 1, but having a few thousand more troops would be really handy against Badajoz, Seville, etc.
Self-righteousness is incompatible with coalition building.

I feel lucky having an army of 1200-1400 to start with, depending on what the HRE is using at any given moment.
Though, apparently trying for Pisa is...more hairy than I thought it'd be. 2 provinces but they can muster a 900-1100 man force which is mildly disconcerting.
Played an awesome Flanders game last night, moved back to 1006, apparently that breaks the HRE or whatever. So I was expanding, had about 10 counties and could get an additional 3 ducal titles, that I was holding off on due to gavelkind. Two sons, three daughters. Marry my eldest off to the Duchess of Thurungia. He dies, but his son is still heir, it's all good. My guy gets to his mid 70s and then suddenly the Duchy of Thurungia (and the other 3 ducal titles she had acquired) was being passed down to not my heir. My heir had switched from my grandson (who had died) to my second son! This would not do! So I assassinated my second son and then it switched to me daughters so I assassinated them, but ran out of cash and ended up with one of my daughters as heir... who was married off to the King of Scotland... leaving me with really no heirs of my line. Still not sure why my great-grandson wasn't in line
Got one province developed to the point where it had a levy of about 1300 though
I'll probably just start with whoever is available when I'm ready. It's just to work out the logistics - saving, pausing, how much bandwidth does N people take up, that sort of thing
Well, I went ahead and purchased the game after all. The scheduled game is running a little too late for me, but I wouldn't mind getting in on this test game to see what it's like. If you want one more for stress testing, I'd be down.

Bah, I completely forgot there's a hockey game on tonight, so I might not be able to pop in for the test run later unless you guys are still kicking around about 11 pm or so.
