Capsule is a Japanese electropop duo and they are pretty gosh darn cool (very cool).
Does this mean I have to understand Japanese?
Nope! Many of their songs don't include lyrics, or are vaguely Japanese-sounding phonemes strung together, it is just gibberish. A lot of their later stuff is English-sounding gibberish. And now a number of their songs are in English. And even when the lyrics are clearly Japanese the music is still good so give them a listen.
My biggest thing I'm into right is J-Pop and K-Pop
The fact that J-electropop exists too and I just discovered Capsule because of you
I'm in heaven
Yeah! I was hoping someone would really give them a listen. They are a lot of fun, and I also feel like their sound is very in line with Western taste. A number of people I know don't like the sound of a lot of Kpop and Jpop, but Capsule's music has an edge that appeals to those sentiments. And no need to be worried about a language barrier, particularly with their more recent work. You could probably play some of this stuff in a nightclub and people would love it.
The only thing is that services like Pandora and Spotify don't really help you learn about more bands or a particular group's discography. I am using youtube right now but eh, it isn't the best way to go about it.
[edit] To clarify: neither of these services has much in the way of music from Asia
It's great how by going on youtube and clicking through music you can come across great new artists that you would otherwise never had heard. I came across this, and I think it's really good stuff, kind of like dubstep but not really, I think there's a lot of trance and chill out influences here as well. Man I love electronic dance.
Also yeah this is not whatever rock music the op was on about but I don't care because I found a cool new artist and I want to share.

Here is some of their other stuff, they start off a bit slow but have obvious drops where the music just bursts

I also discovered the existence of Janelle Monae this week and I'm basically in love with her.

I don't remember Odd Future winning an Oscar in the last decade.
