So, day two of tour, two shows down and a total of about fifty bucks in profit thus far. First gig, we got stiffed by the bar manager. Whatever. Second gig, about ten people show up cuz a promoter dropped the ball, so we got twenty bucks off the door. The rest has been stickers and albums and tshirts. Still tons of fun though. Jesus why am I awake.

so The 20/20 Experience is very, very enjoyable
long-ass pop songs that make you want to always start at the beginning and let the album ride out
equally appropriate for dinner parties and afternoon lounging
and thanks to Sara Lynn I can't stop listening to Bat for Lashes and Kimbra

Much as I like the general gist of what Bat for Lashes is often doing, it is so rarely realized in songs I actually like
upon first listen, I always think I'm going to like one of her songs and then I just kinda don't
she's got a couple songs that really work for me, but a lot of it is sort of nice, almost-there set dressing

the single glaring misstep in 20/20 is the decision that led to those hellish first two minutes of Let the Groove Get In
I've been a fan of the arctic monkeys for ages, and still hate myself a fair bit for not seeing them live in like 2008 because I was hung up on a girl.
This is fucking fantastic though! It's very chill, very melodic. Alex Turner's voice makes me swoon a bit, though, let's be honest.
Also digging this track off of the new Strokes album which went up streaming today. They pretty much haven't been relevant since 2002, but this song is beautiful and sounds nothing like anything they have ever done before

Ken Casey, beat the shit out of him with (apparently punched him in the gob, clocked him with his bass and then roughing him some more.) and then grabbed the mic and announced that Nazis are not fucking welcome at a Murphy's show.

if you are a nazi at a punk show and the band playing isn't The Hitler Youth you are in severe danger of getting your ass stomped

There's also a group that call themselves SHARPS, or Skinheads Against Racial Prejudices. They wear white suspenders instead of red and rock anti-nazi patches and beat the living fuck out of any racists they encounter.
