The whole list was a joke; it was mostly a circlejerk of recent popular games or really old console games that everyone played as a kid (which you'd expect from a popular vote, but still).
Games like Freespace 2 or Alice: Madness Returns certainly deserved a mention. I'm a huge fan of Fallout 3, but there's no way its ending is better than either of those, and I'm sure the same holds true for many other games on that list.
The same Fallout3 with an ending that set a bar so low they could afford to bet every dev in the industry they couldn't do worse?
Slightly veering off topic, but I hear the board game is kind of poorly balanced.
The original version was, but this is second edition. I think they made some balance changes.
It's a good game either way. Lots of wonderful over the board conversations. They run Play by Posts of it all the time over oat Critical Failures
Actually, I'm a big fan of the first-ed GoT boardgame. I think it's the most-played in the pile of boxes on the bookcase. Over the last few years, I've probably played 30-50 games. And I suspect it is, in some circumstances, unbalanced. If you're the guy who analyses everything so deeply that there's only one 'right' move. On the other hand, if you're having beer with friends, and playing the game as a bit of fun, it's brilliant. I think there were some issues with the original base game re: Lannisters/Greyjoys, and the lomiting of naval power, but that largely got ironed out in the expansions.
And now I want a) to play the board game at the weekend
b) to play a PC version of the boardgame, which the one on sal...kind of is? But worse? Dunno. Anyone actually buy it in the last sale?
Only 17% of Bastion players beat it because there was a winter sale achievement for playing the first 5 minutes of the game. I'm in that camp. Haven't had a chance to pick it up for real yet.
Well. Sorry to folks who entered my giveaway. I'd love to log in to steamgifts and give the winner their copy of SMB but I can't until the site is back up. I'll get it to the winner once I can see who it is. :<<

If I could go back and stop myself from ever buying SMB I would. I'm playing it right now and it IS a ton of fun, but i'm ruining it for myself by obessively trying to get Grade A+ on ALL the levels. Why do I have to be like this?

I was thinking about whether or not Steam was going to have a Valentine's Day sale (apparently Amazon.com is going to have one), and then a terrible thought struck my brain.
This Valentine's Day, give her the gift of love. Show her that you care...

That list is bad just because it exists. You're a world record company. You don't make world records by polling random people what they think is the best. That doesn't even begin to make sense.
It also reads more like a "These are what games I own" list rather than anyone saying anything about the endings.
these are the things that steam activate in amazon's valentines one day sale. they usually start sale prices at midnight pacific time.
Borderlands Game of the Year - $6.99
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 - $4.99
Magicka Collection - $4.99 (not quite the full collection that's on steam - has ~9/12 of the dlc)

Hmmm, cool; might have to grab Magicka. Was hoping for Bastion, though, although I suppose it makes sense that they're all co-op/multiplayer. Oh well, there'll be more sales down the road!
They shouldn't even have "Best ___" categories. Best Something is not a world record.
Have you looked at a Guiness Book of World Records within the last 15 years or so? They're a joke. I remember when they were thick, dense tomes of actual records. No longer.

so COD:MW2 is going to break the 9.99 defense line finally.

I really do need to get around to playing that game myself. It's surprising that so few complete it; isn't the campaign relatively short?
I have 8 hours played, and I've done a little bit on top of clearing the game, but not too much.
Only if it includes Railworks DLC's but not Railworks itself.

I have actually not even completed the Light World in SMB, despite pouring a shitload of time into it.
This is mostly because I am a perfectionist and will spend hours rerunning the same stages.

Awww yeah.
Maybe a co-op game? I'm thinking Portal 2. They have to promote that robot on robot love.
This is great.

Doesn't seem to have any DD DLC on amazon. I searched off the Trendy Entertainment and nothing came up.
