how does this argument lead to "condemning the institution and library goers"?

Like child porn as an eventuality of that site's size is the basest form of cyber-apologism I have seen

I think you are misinterpreting my position; I certainly don't believe that being large somehow excuses trafficking in child pornography! My observation is merely a factual one, in the same way that observing shooting in the head leads to death is not an attempt to excuse murder.

whether or not child porn or jailbait forums is an eventuality of something that size is besides the point, the conditions for that were fostered by staff inaction, and the overall community's inaction.

Oddly this reminds me of the Catholic Church molestation cases. It's not only the action of those involved, but the lack of action by figures in authority.

and yet, people could be exchanging suggestive pictures of children in Critical Failures right now and I wouldn't have any idea because I never go in there.

It...huh. So does...is there like a Republican brony club? I guess I really do not have a grasp on the adult My Little Pony viewer demographic. I mean I would've assumed liberal nerds.

It's interesting that the idea of a persistent internet identity has come up a few times in this thread.

I have in recent years gone out of my way to avoid establishing such an identity. I prefer disparate identities on disparate sites, separate accounts, peculiar handles and usernames- connected thematically, perhaps, but not the same identity used everywhere. Any time I see the option to "log in with your Facebook account" I avoid it. It has become a goal of mine to keep my internet communities separate. This is partly because I like to explore different facets of my social personality in different settings.

It is also because I've become kind of paranoid about collected user information. I'm sure Google or the CIA can gather plenty of information about me, no matter what I do, but I don't want it to be easy. I specifically want to avoid becoming a whole person online. I'd rather become parts of persons in different places, as necessity dictates.

    I don't wanna kill anybody. I don't like bullies. I don't care where they're from.
