Oh, Lord....
I do have some faith for the project, because although it's very unpopular to say good things about him, I think he's a pretty good actor, and now he's going to be playing a half-dandy assassin-for-hire, and THATS just quality entertainment, people.

The many, many musicians who looked like they were made from Lego and had to memorize their lines the day before, and still read from a teleprompter, ESPECIALLY Matt "Guitar" Murphy. He looked like he was fighting sedation. Being a good actor is different from acting natural... in real life, those musicians probably act totally natural. On screen, they look like balsa wood.

Also, those guys actually had to sort of play characters. Eminem was simply reliving an overly dramatic version of his own life. I equate it to Private Parts. I remeber Howard Stern being pretty good in it. But really how hard is it to replay your own life?

I'm no actor but I were asked to re-enact myself in a movie about my exceptionally interesting life then I'm pretty sure I could handle it.
And there really wasn't very much good acting at all in the blues brothers. Watch it sometime and pay close attention to John Belushi's demeanor. The dude looks wasted half the time and often appears like he really doesn't want to be there.
My point is that most of the fellas in The Blues Brothers (which I love), are giving terrible, terrible acting performances. Why? Because they are musicians, shoe-horned into movie. Even playing themselves is too hard.
Now, Eminem is no master thespian, but he definitely has better acting chops than those fellas. Given time, he might prove to be OK. And there are plenty of completely for shit actors that have got by just fine on the aura they created around themselves.

Everything you say here is true. But the guy wasn't just playing himself. He was re-enacting his life (sorta)! Whatever lines he didn't actually say back then, were probably things he wished he'd of said. I just can't imagine that would be that hard.
The Rock is a great performer. Would you call him a good actor?
