I'm kinda glad this thread exists because I know there's good country out there, but when you're inundated with awful pop country bullshit everywhere you look it kills the desire to look for the good stuff.
DL steered me right by having me go listen to Ryan Bingham at acl last year. I'll give some of this thread a listen at home tonight.
Usually I'm not a big country fan though I do get an itch that only country music once in a while. I'm not sure why, but for some reason, nothing beats country music in the summer. Reminds me of beaches, drinking, BBQ, etc.
Just checked to see if my favorites had been posted, and Stale got all of them. I have nothing to contribute now.
BRIAN KEANE - this is a good song i'm gonna post the vid to, but my favorite of his is "Odysseus" about a cowboy from ithaca, ny http://youtu.be/uhZKOPZ5mKo
diablo III - beardsnbeer#1508 Mechwarrior Online - Rusty Bock
I am pretty disappointed the only Michelle Shocked songs I can find on youtube are... not the best. I do like almost her whole Short Sharp Shocked album, especially If Love Was A Train which has a million covers on youtube but not the original and Making The Run to Gladewater but oh well. Here's a sorta ok song instead since I can't find any good ones:
I am a huge fan of outlaw country because of my dad, which speaking of Guy Clark my dad totally brought him back to his house and got stoned with him once. Or it might've been Jerry Jeff Walker, it's been a while since I heard the story.
I am glad to see that DL has already posted pretty much all of my favourites, and Lost Salient went and posted the rest so the only thing I have to contribute that I didn't see are these guys who are the most modern country band I regularly listen to
