Awake: That show where they took Fringe and CSI and put them in a blender

So Admiral Zhao has a new show!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2AoSM4UzyX8

Detective Britten was in a car accident, and either his wife or son died. Also, he either his wife or son survived! Screwy!

He flips between the two realities Everworld-style, by going to sleep. In one reality, his partner is Fez, who I guess can do serious roles? In both realities, his family is grieving. Makes for a super interesting dynamic!

I know a lot of us here have been anticipating this one for a while, as it's definitely one of the most creative TV premises ever.

It starts March 1st, after the NBC Thursday comedy block, but the first episode is up on Hulu right now! Watched it last night and lovedlovedloved it. By the end, I was just like "THIS SHOW."

As a dude who doesn't like police procedurals and thinks they are boring, static, plotless, parent TV, I fully endorse Awake and think you all should watch it so that I have someone to talk with.

Also, it will probably get cancelled too soon.

Discuss!

The pilot is also available on iTunes and it is awesome as shit and yes THIS SHOW IS AWESOME

ed: this is a really accurate image I found on SA that sums up Awake's premise better and looks pretty (credit to forums user Mo0 on SA)

ed: I describe it as "Daybreak meets Lost" but I guess CSI + Fringe works too...sorta

if you watched the pilot you see they do a lot of things to make it REALLY EASY to tell which reality he's in

the main character basically interacts with two completely different casts dependent on which reality he's in, he solves two different cases, and most crucial the "wife reality" is colored very bright and the "son reality" is colored very dark i.e. wife reality is orange, son reality is blue

The only thing that was confusing for me was.
Why the same perp had such wildly different crimes in each reality.

Oh wow. This is pretty awesome.

I am worried for it because the show was created by the guy who came up with Lone Star. So I fear for its longevity.

I'm pretty sure they weren't the same perp, dude. The kidnapper guy was old and the cabbie murderer was young. Also I thought the cabbie murderer was wearing a fake beard.

Also, this show is more Life on Mars than anything.

Really, Life on Mars + Life.

Alright, that sounds right up my street.

Might try this one out. And heck, those both did a good job with 2 seasons.

Life is probably my favorite network TV show of the past 5 years.
