best ad ever was the trailer for where the wild things are aka: the trailer that was better than the movie
Seriously.
Yes this oh my goodness, this is so true
The movie I made in my head for Where the Wild Things Are because of that trailer made it impossible for me to ever enjoy the actual product
I'd say it's the best trailer I've seen as far as artistic merit and making me WANT to see the movie, but one of the worst for giving an idea of what the actual movie was like
Man it's not even like Where the Wild Things Are was a BAD film
it really wasn't! In fact I think it was a very effective film, in that it evoked emotions that the director very much intended for the audience to experience. After a couple of viewings, I've really come around to it, and warmed to the vision that the producers had in mind. It was an UNCOMFORTABLE film, for me, but I think that was intentional.
But the trailer evoked something entirely different, at least for me, and I much prefer the mood portrayed in the trailer to the one that was ultimately conveyed in the full-fledged movie
That one I'd think is pretty self-explanatory, but it's for Google Mobile Search. The ad asks the user a question, and the user searches it and then answers. The ad thanks them and then does a little "If you're curious, search with Google!" spiel.
"Sandra has a good solid anti-murderer vibe. My skin felt very secure and sufficiently attached to my body when I met her. Also my organs." HAIL SATAN

yea they have some up in the UK at bus stops. It's neat and uses facial recognition to determine if the person viewing the ad is male or female and gives them an ad based on their gender. The article i read on it said it is about 90% acurate.

best use of music in a trailer in history, easily.
I like this one a lot:
Steam: Chagrin LoL: Bonhomie
I remember seeing it and thinking it was the funniest ad, even if I didn't remember what beer it was for for a while.
Also, this one: youtube.com/watch?v=gh5xu35bAxA
Steam // Secret Satan

aw whatever, now I'm just ramblin'
yep
More commercials need Walt Whitman's poetry.
"Would you like to borrow some money?"
"Thank you!" and then immediately after,
"Hey, pay me back!"
Also there have been a couple of cool prototype ads... is that what you'd call them? Anyway, interactive ads in the public transportation here:

The only Super Bowl commercial ever to elicit a "man, it sure got dusty in here!" from a room full of dudes.
I love these commercials.
Also the Terry Crews Old Spice ones.
