On my mom's side of the family, there's this sausage stuffing recipe that has been elevated to legend status. My grandmother and her three sisters all claim to have received the recipe directly from their mother, despite the fact that all of their respective recipes are different -- with varying amounts of celery, whether the celery is cooked before it's mixed in, etc. They only make it on Thanksgiving and Christmas, and it continues to be possibly the greatest single bit of food I've ever tasted (Grandma's is the best if you ask me, but they're all great).
Anyway, every year on the day after Thanksgiving/Christmas, we gather whatever sausage stuffing is left and make sandwiches.
The sausage stuffing sandwich, with mayo on a poppy seed bun, is my family's contribution to the culinary world.

I made a really awesome sandwich the other night:
Two slices of Dave's Killer Bread
4 slices of Tilamook Cheddar Cheese
3 slices of deli honey ham
handfull of diced bbq chicken
Buttered the bread and grilled it over med-high heat with a cover
One of my favorite sandwiches is the midnight press from Paseo. It's inspired by the cuban, but is not a strictly faithful reproduction. It's still glorious.
Cuban roast pork, banana peppers, smoked ham, swiss, thick cut caramelized onions, and sprigs of cilantro. It's enormous and messy and brilliant.
We have a place here that serves a hotdog with Peanut Butter and Jelly and Captain Crunch. It's surprisingly amazing.

I like burgers. My favorite burger so far was at the last place I worked at, there was a little cafe inside of Saks at the mall that made these big juicy bacon cheese burgers on a brioche bun. Best part of my work day.

I can't help it if I used to live in South Florida where you could almost always find Cubans at restaurants.
And occasionally they would make sandwiches?

There are two sandwiches at two different restaurants in Kalamazoo, where I went to college, that I still miss and long for.
One is from The Crow's Nest - it's called the Mast and it was made with tempeh although now I guess it's baked marinated tofu, with kalamata olive tapenade, caramelized onions and spinach and herb cream cheese toasted on rye bread.
The second is from a pizza place called Martini's - roasted pork sandwich with slow-roasted thin sliced pork, zucchini, mushrooms, sauteed potatoes, caramelized onions and a mustard sauce. Oooh my god it was such a glorious shitshow.
If anyone wants to send me one of these sandwiches express mail I will give them a superfluous organ.

Subway's okay in a pinch. I like the Cold Cut Trio. Mostly I just put lettuce, tomatoes, sweet onion, and hella olives, all on white bread. I like Jimmie John's though 'cause they put more meat, and it's not too expensive. Quizno's used to be pretty good, but they're hella expensive for less sandwich these days. I only go there when they have a deal on their prime rib sandwich.

A burger is a kind of sandwich, so your favourite sandwich can be a burger!

No, I actually ate the meat of Cuban born humans between 2 slices of thick rye bread.
