"Hey guys, remember that Donkey Kong game that sucks and that everyone hates? Let's make that the only VC release this week!"
I loved DK3 in the arcade. Obviously wasn't Mario and introduced some odd mechanics, but it was certainly challenging and a lot of fun. They should have just removed DK and added a different enemy and created a new IP, but you know, sales.

Yeah - I'll admit I like DK3. I will say though it's probably one of those games that you are more likely to enjoy if you have the rose-colored glasses of nostalgia and have memories of playing it in the arcade or on the NES as a kid. I really wish Nintendo would get the rights to put Popeye out on the VC
Stanley should get a new game or show up as a rival/villain to Mario. Donkey Kong is a good guy these days and Wario's got his own franchise of games to worry about now.

Ooh...I have never actually played any of the Final Fight games.
Ooh...I have never actually played any of the Final Fight games.
How are they compared to Streets of Rage?
I remember playing Final Fight 3 as a kid, it was very short, but I remember having a blast with it. I know I've played Streets of Rage, but I honestly cant remember anything about it outside of it being a beat em up...
Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.

This seems to be missing stuff. It mentions the Final Fight promo but no Final Fight releases?
Hmm... looks like that may actually be the full list. Apparently instead of listing the Final Fight games they just decided to sneak them into that eShop sale blurb.

Then this is a dumb week :P I don't want Final Fight games - though I guess at least they released 3 games this week instead of 1....
I really want to buy MH3U on the 3DS or the WiiU but I played the demo and was pretty unimpressed. Is the demo indicative of how much fun the game can be?

The demo is a terrible demo and does not give a good impression of the game at all.

Related: I have both a Wii U and access to a 3DS. I've played Monster Hunter on the 3DS but don't own it. Which version should I pick up?
Wii U has online play and is the primary selling point for that version.
3DS has local multiplayer (including talking to the Wii U version) and the advantage of playing anywhere. Plus I'm told better framerate but I'm blind to these things. You will probably want a CPP if you go 3DS, though.
Of note: a free utility exists that can transfer saves from one version to the other, as they are identical games (minus the online thing). At 50% off...

Technically, the demo is EXACTLY what the game is BUT it's still not representative of the enjoyment you can get out of the game. Basically, the demo throws you into later fights with no explanation of anything. You have had no time to understand the strategy involved in those fights, nor the option to customize your gear, nor the option to change what you bring with you. MH is all about those things and without them it's just a rather bloodless hack'n'slash. The first few hours are "tutorials" that ease you into all of that. (Not real tutorials, but rather you're sent on a specific series of missions with increasing difficulty that ramps you into the deeper elements of the game without you really realizing it's happening. And then you're fighting gigantic sea monsters that shoot lightning at you while you're trying to break their horns because you need 3 more to make the armor you want to fight the giant Wyvrn that has parts you need to make the armor you want to fight the elder dragon with because, really, fuck that guy.

Ha. Fair point. But while I liked the game enough to give it another try, I'm still on the fence about whether it will have staying power with me. 50% off is more of an incentive to "risk" trying the game out again than a chance to get a game I really want.
"Risk" is hyperbolic obviously. When I tried it on the 3DS I enjoyed it, just not enough to drop money on right away. It's one of those games that's so big that I'm worried I'll find it too overwhelming to ever begin. (Get the same thing with Skyrim and similar games)

I got into it fairly recently and the game is good about starting small and teaching you the basics before it opens up and starts throwing crazy monsters at you. If you're worried about being overwhelmed the single player mode will bring you up to speed. This is coming from someone who tried to get into the series with Monster Hunter 2 on the PSP and tapped out after only an hour and a half of confused and irritating play.

And if you have questions, like "Hey guys which weapon should I use?" because everyone has that question, seriously, just ask in the MH thread.
Usually the answer is "Try them all and see what works for you."
But the idea is to take a giant part of that giant game (weapon choice) and make it smaller for a bit so you can get a feel for the monsters and other fun things.

Guys, Nintendo's VC strategy is flawless, and I won't listen to anyone who says otherwise.
I don't see why it wouldn't be.
I still have my NES cart of it.
