    I have to wonder if this is still using the AD&D ruleset

    Part of me think it has to, another part thinks it shouldn't because AD&D suuuuucks

    I'd imagine changing the ruleset would be a major undertaking and would probably drastically change how the game plays out.

    I suspect they might make something reminiscent of the original ruleset but with a few tweaks

    yeah you'd have to re-write a lot of scripting, every enemy, every item, probably a bunch of quests...
