Infiltrator with Cryo ammo. Love. Headshots don't even leave a body (using the N7 Valiant mk3 at the moment, saving up for the Widow).
Also, when I met
Kasumi
on the citadel and did her side mission...
I almost broke out the onions. Maybe because it was late at night, but she damned near fooled me. DAMN YOU BIOWARE. DON'T SCARE ME LIKE THAT.
Meanwhile, I wanted to tell her "Don't worry, you don't have to fight, Kasumi. Just come on the ship, serve drinks, and follow me around while cloaked and talk to me. That's all I ask."
I still feel like an idiot for falling for that. I thought it was a consequence of letting her keep the greybox.
Also, Kasumi is still awesome. "See, if Jacob was on the Normandy you could have convinced me to come along!"

Just FYI on that, to compare notes
My Shep apparently destroyed the box. Everything still behaved the same. And yes, the Jacob line was classic. Love her. Check the message terminal in Liara's office if you haven't already. Kasumi pops up. It's hilarious.
Oh, and I really enjoyed seeing another SPECTRE. Nice to know I'm not the only competent one

I thought that the scene would've seemed really anti-climactic if that's how it actually ended. Kasumi deserves a way better end than that, even for a DLC character.
Also, I just want to add that I absolutely love this game. I think the sense of pay-off for all your character interactions in the first and second games are just awesome.
Grunt spoilers:
I was starting to tear up when I thought Grunt was going to die fighting off the rachni-reapers. When he came stumbling out of the cave drenched in blood there weren't enough in the world.
1) When I hopped on to multiplayer from the very beginning, my Galatic Readiness was already at 50%. Was that correct? Why was it already there?
2) I played so much multiplayer that I only played the first mission of the campaign before going to bed, but I don't remember being asked to change my difficulty or if I wanted to play Action/RPG/Story. Did I do something wrong?
Does it seem like they've nerfed Warp ammo a bit in this game? It was pretty much the go-to ammo in ME2 but I think they've changed it. Now I find myself switching between Armor-Piercing and Disruptor.
1. Yes, starting at 50% is correct. It's likely at that level to represent that the Reapers haven't fully invaded/some systems more prepared than others.
2. Look at your options when you pause the game.

The 'Galactic Readiness' is a multiplier for your War Assets in the campaign. So by default, with no MP, whatever War Assets you acquire will be cut in half for the actual endgame. Playing MP improves the multiplier.

Perfect answers. Thanks. I did change it to Insanity when I went to options, but I wasn't sure if that was going to affect an achievement for beating the entire game on Insanity. Looks like it won't, as you just need to have it on before you
Just started. Talking to the reporter chick that wants to embed on the normandy. Pointed the stick at "Let's do a trial run." and I assume the kinect heard some background noise or something, because without moving the stick at all, or pressing A, the arrow slid down to "No, fuck you" and selected it. Then the game saved.
I don't even need a gun. The synergy between the Charge and Barrier explosion is absurd. It's like I'm an invincible explosive pinball bouncing around the battlefield. I giggle with joy during every fight. I'm even playing on hardcore which, as other have said, feels perfect.
That's pretty much how I'm playing. I have a gun to set things on fire and allow group Inferno ammo.
When you say bugged. , you mean that one terminal remained lit up? You need to find a different terminal. Not uncompletable.
I also thought it was bugged before finding the second terminal because the journal gives you absolutely no useful information. So, not uncompleteable; just the worst journal in the history of journals.
What you mean is that you're lazy and need to go search the rest of the citadel.

I've heard it both ways. Apparently the second terminal can possibly not become active. Supposively saving/reloading fixes it. Or something. It did work for me, but that second terminal's location is not really obvious (and the journal outright lies, don't believe it) - I had to look up where it was.
Have noticed a few bugs though. One conversation Shepard was looking behind her the entire conversation (her head was turned a bit further than should be humanly possible too, really creepy). Another the camera panned to... nobody. The person talked and he was off camera -_- *sigh* I suppose I'll take a couple of these over some of ME2's nearly gamebreaking bugs though :P

I'd imagine the optimum way to do it is to mix it up. Like, buy some 20ks, then a bunch of 5ks, then rely on those items while you stock up to buy a 60k, then repeat?

What throws you off is that the journal says you have to look in the Embassies, when that's exactly what you shouldn't be doing.

Speaking of the journal being... let's say not useful... these citadel quests I keep picking up when I overhear people talking. I assume the ones that say 'Citadel:' in front are completed on the citadel, and not somewhere else, yes?

They generally require you to go somewhere else and then come back and turn the item you find in to someone on the Citadel.

The key thing I learned is that the map will actually point you to quest objectives for once (in this case, it will list "Terminal" under the point of interest that it's located at). And you can use LB/RB (or whatever the hell the PS3/PC controls for that are) to scroll through all the Citadel maps. It's really nice. Amazing how they took what was basically the shitty-ass ME2 map system and with a couple tiny changes actually make it useful.
So, again, are all of the initial sidequests in the XBox version on disc 2?
Not that I've encountered *yet* but admittedly I've done *very* few of them. So I am probably not the best person to answer. I would guess it would be like ME2 where Disk 2 would contain any new locations opened up after some defining mission (ex: ME2 - after Horizon opened up Illium, Tuchanka, etc). But that is just a guess.
What's required to finish the one for the ambassador trying to find out what happened to his son? I've overheard the drunk marines in the Purgatory foyer talking about him/the mission, but nothing ever registers on screen as a quest complete/next step, and I can't talk to them directly. Also, after saying a particular portion of their discussion, they all stop talking. I generally have to leave that floor, do something else, then come back for them to continue.
Any hints?

That annoyed me. It was late so I didn't spend a lot of time trying to figure it out, so I don't actually know. But it's dumb that the convo wasn't enough to complete it.

I haven't completed this quest, but:
There is an N7 quest to go to the planet where his son was supposed to have been. I'm imagining that while you're there you might be able to find evidence.

Another question.
Went and picked up the DLC squadmate immediately. I completed two more early missions, and he was blacked out for both of them. Anyone know why I can't use him?
I played this for 3.5 hours last night and so far I'm thoroughly impressed. Everything has been completely awesome: the graphics are smoother than ever, the music is amazing and very synthy, the controls are spot-on and the powers and loadouts are fun and flexible. The loading times are even shorted than they were in ME2. The atmosphere feels like the perfect melding of the first 2 games and I am absolutely loving it.
I think my favorite change is the removal of the holstering animation, which has freed up the Back button for Quick Saves. It is so awesome to finally have quick save capability in a console game, I find myself using it all the time. I really don't miss putting my gun away in combat areas and this is a much more useful feature in my opinion.
Just a note: If you have access to a Kinect but aren't using it for this game, you are missing out. I haven't tried using it for conversations, but issuing commands during combat is a fucking blast.
The only problem with it, in fact, is that "singularity" is apparently a difficult word for the sensor to reliably understand, and it is a very godsdamned important word.

You can use him after you get your next squad member.
It's 100% voice recognition stuff. I know you can order your squadmates to do stuff with voice commands and answer dialog choices by actually saying the option. That might be it, I'm not sure.

You should be able to use him the next mission or the one after that. IIRC the 3rd after was the first time I could.

I have a test tonight. Imagine ME3 sitting in my xbox all day while I sit here in the kitchen studying.
Edit: Playing catch me if you can with the reapers is the best mini game.
So, I'm still pretty early in the game. On the one hand, I like that the enemy AI is smarter, rather than "Let's give everyone lots of shields + armor!" On the other hand, I'm playing an adept on insane and have yet to get someone in my squad with Overload...so I have lots of guys with shields charging me.
