Wait so we don't have to equip any gun? Good bye pistol. On Insanity with my sentinel it's just singularity+warp with overload thrown in when needed. I don't think I've even shot someone outside of the tutorial.
I haven't tried gold multiplayer missions yet but i'm kinda worried they're too easy, found some reliable online pubbies and we were clearing silver with ease w/ level 10-12 characters

Man, I'm not sure what the map is called, but that one multiplayer map that's some building with catwalks everywhere in the middle of a boring flat place? That area in the center is glorious for getting grab kills. Vault cover, run over to next cover, grabkill guy on other side, repeat.
It was that somehow, from within the derelict-horror, they had learned a way to see inside an ugly, broken thing... And take away its pain.

I want to play so bad! On Monday, I realized that I had wiped out my complete ME2 save when I reformatted my hard drive. I had backups for all of my other saves EXCEPT ME2!
I'm about halfway through it right now. I put my ME3 copy right next to my monitor as a sort of "carrot" to keep me going.
PC owners with nvidia video cards...a question. Can I use nvidia inspector to force AA on ME3? Does anyone know?
It's 100% voice recognition stuff. I know you can order your squadmates to do stuff with voice commands and answer dialog choices by actually saying the option. That might be it, I'm not sure.
Interesting that this isn't in the PS3 and PC versions then. Because I'm pretty sure a microphone is a readily available peripheral for both.
Regarding Vanguard stuff - I just have a shotgun + pistol. Cooldown reduction seems low enough that I can pretty much charge non-stop (I also took the - I think fitness? - skill that boosts weight capacity so that helps). I am using a lighter shotgun though (horrible accuracy but I figure I'm in their face, why the fuck do I need accuracy? :P). I'd switch the pistol out for a SMG but the two I have right now are HORRIBLE. Recoil out the ass!

Best I can figure is the voice recognition software exists in the Kinect hardware so they don't have to bundle that, and that's why. Still, it's stupid.
Finally getting my copy today - first time Amazon Release Date shipping has failed me but I sent a whiny e-mail and got a future credit so I guess it's whatever.

Went and picked up the DLC squadmate immediately. I completed two more early missions, and he was blacked out for both of them. Anyone know why I can't use him?
You should be able to use him the next mission or the one after that. IIRC the 3rd after was the first time I could.
I'm still pretty early in the game, but as best I can tell, missions labeled in your Journal as "Priority" are the ones that add new squad members. So the DLC person will remain unavailable until you run your next Priority mission.
Just unlocked and started playing... one question though...
I purchased the 'n7 digital deluxe edition' on origin and i could've sworn it showed all the DLC weapons as being available but i'm only showing the 'N7 Collector's Edition Pack' unlocked? did i get screwed by pre-ordering it on origin?

Check your Bioware Social account - that's the best way to tell what you have unlocked. I don't know how PC works, but it's possible you have to download the DLC weapons seperate somehow (this is how it worked on 360).

Go into Origin then Options and then enter your DLC codes. I'm at work so I can't tell you exactly what the menu choices are, sorry. The game will download whichever DLCs you didn't load when you installed the game. That worked to load the weapons and the DLC mission for me. You may need to restart your PC when this is done.
Regarding when you meet back up with(ME 2 Companion)
Semara In the
Ardat-Yakshi Monestary, it seems set up for dozens maybe hundreds of students, and some of the datapads talk about a yearly trip to their homeworlds, but in ME 2 Semara says that there are only three Ardat-Yakshi in existence, and all of them are her daughters. I'm 99% certain of this, since I played that section only a day or so ago. Kind of interesting that they changed that.
With production values so ridiculously high, I was kind of hoping they'd actually fix some of the bugs from ME2. Like storm getting you stuck on top of things and not letting you back down. I've also run across at least two side quests that seem to be bugged (in the spoiler below).
Liara tells me to talk to Barla Von; even though I could "use" him before, I no longer get the option. And the hanar diplomat quest seems broken. After activating the terminal on the wall I can't do anything else.
I've also been pleasantly surprised by the animation and background action going on in diferent places. The intro from the demo is the intro scene-for-scene, but there're fewer Godzilla-eqsue lip-synching snafus and fewer awkward, non-sensical animation. Plus everything dialogue seems to have been knocked up a notch; the world feels more alive since more people are talking to each other - on and off mission (mechanics-y type stuff spoilered below).
Crew members talking to each other over the intercom is nice, as well as the myriad conversations you can overhear or - occasionally - intervene in on the citadel. The conversation mechanics seem to have been dumbed down, though. Everything so far has boiled down to "top right answer for make nice, bottom right answer for be mean". I have not seen one reason for there to be a reputation bar yet. I haven't had to persuade anyone, apparently. And 10+ hours into the game seems like a strange place to have not yet scene a core mechanic from the previous two games. Maybe it's bugged and set to "hyper streamlined new conversation system" or something.
The exploration mechanic is also interesting. The inventory is also vastly improved over ME2's simpleton setup (and ME1's "here is a pile of things" setup).

It's interesting that ME3 went back to emphasizing ME1's "You've got a bunch of weapons collapsed into a box on your butt" model of player inventory, of which ME2 seemed rather embarassed.

Samara In the
Ardat-Yakshi Monestary, it seems set up for dozens maybe hundreds of students, and some of the datapads talk about a yearly trip to their homeworlds, but in ME 2 Samara says that there are only three Ardat-Yakshi in existence, and all of them are her daughters. I'm 99% certain of this, since I played that section only a day or so ago. Kind of interesting that they changed that.
I'm 100% sure that you're wrong. She never claimed to be the sole progenitor, even of all the ones currently alive.
Vanguards, man. Oh my God. I'm playing an Insanity Adept in the Single-Player, but I've been running Human Vanguard in the Multi, and it's just about the funnest thing I've ever done in Mass Effect. I only carry a pistol, and I don't even fire the fucker. My cooldowns are so quick that I can just spam Charge + Nova: doesn't mean that's always the best option (if you don't clear the field with Nova, you're in trouble), but it's so much fun. Against tougher enemies, like the Atlus Mechs and Brutes, I literally just Charge-spam those fuckers. I don't bother using Nova, or firing off anything else. Just Charge-spam. They have a hell of a hard time killing me, and I basically just hold their aggro while my team burns them down.
Vanguard with a Mattock and nothing else. Damage and penetration mods. Soften up targets at range then charge/nova for amazing results. Great Success!!!
I don't even need a gun. The synergy between the Charge and Barrier explosion is absurd. It's like I'm an invincible explosive pinball bouncing around the battlefield. I giggle with joy during every fight. I'm even playing on hardcore which, as other have said, feels perfect.
I thought my first play will be on my first chat which was a male paragon engineer, but now I'm thinking it will be my female renegade vanguard.

Well, Holy Cow.
Was I ever shocked to see EDI become a squad member. I totally did not see that happening. Also, a great bit of dialogue from that event:
Shepard: I'll consider taking you on field missions, but only after your run a detailed series of tests first to see if you are capable.
EDI: Commencing tests now. Finished. We will be fine.

I had the same two issues, Barla Von will reactivate once you've done another story mission. The next part of the Hanar quest is in the refugee area.

So apparently people not getting Origin pre-order bonuses is a widespread problem, which contacting customer support may or may not result in a solution to.

Just wanted to reiterate that I fuckin hate turrets.
It almost feels like they designed it to punish vanguards that are too aggressive. Now everytime i see one, i just tell my squaddies to take care of it while i huddle up against a corner and cry.
Well, I'll be damned. My bad. Anyone up for some multiplayer to drive up Galactic Readiness? (I'm assuming that's still an option, though it's late in the game.)

@President Rex I ran into both of those, but it's just a minor problem that you can overcome really easily. Super mild spoiler for two Citadel sidequests that can get stuck:
For Barla, just go to a different floor and come back. For the terminal quest, it'll keep pointing to the first terminal by waypoint, but if you check your map, it'll no longer be listed as an entry under one of the area headings the way Udina etc. are. You have to go find the second one, which will show up on the map headings -- it's at the beginning of the non-Normandy dock if I recall correctly, followed by another one at the opposite end of the same floor, then the second one again, and then you'll have to look at your map while going to different floors because I can't remember where the others are, if there are any past that.
Edit: Ugh, I can't remember how you @ tag someone with a space in their name. There we go!
