...will probably do you just fine. If you have further questions you should totally ask about them via pm or something though, since we don't want to stray too far off topic.
Offtopic? Here? Unpossible! I think this thread detours offtopic a week after any beta event when the new info stream has dried up.
As for that dubstep... yeah still no interest in it, I'll leave it at that
I don't pretend to understand other people's taste (my nephew both love Children of Bodom, I lasted about 5 seconds into a song), so music just falls into a 'whatever floats yer boat' category.
Sorta on topic... I think I'm going to end up creating one character for each race, mix of genders (sorta tied to class), and then just work out what classes I want from there. Whichever I find the most fun after 10 levels will probably be the one I stick with till 80.

I play a fair bunch of Mundo in LoL, so I got unreasonably amused by a video called "El Mundo contra Mundo (MvM) de Guild Wars 2" popping up on youtube. :P
(Mundo is Spanish for "world")

HP Lovecraft's horror stories frequently center around beings, concepts, and creations which are almost incomprehensible to the human mind. Things like a horrible colour that's indescribable, or 'wrong' geometry, and so on and so forth.
Lots of folks going insane seeing things, but what they saw is billed as too horrible to relate with the written word.

As for your questions (which have already been answered):
-There ain't no trinity. You're responsible for your own healing. Healing others is either a very weak AE effect or on a incredibly long cooldown. Considering that you can go from full health to completely dead in about 10 seconds, a 180s cooldown ability essentially doesn't exist. Tanking is basically "dodge out of combat and run away". Snares, roots and stuns (daze) are the closest you get to "tanking". DPS is (as always) DPS.
- You can set any one of your abilities to be auto-attack. By default this is the #1 "spam" weapon ability. The most effective way to fight is set the spam ability and let it cycle while you worry about positioning and creating situational opportunities for your other (non-auto) abilities.
Fascinating. Thank you to all who responded. Definitely going to go check out explorable dungeons.
I'm about on the edge where I want to fall in love with/get excited for this game, but then I remember past MMO promises and I'm still wary.
It's not you, Guild Wars 2. It's the baggage Age of Conan left me with.
@Arryn - If the PvP stuff is what's bringing you in, I hope you realize that you can play the entire game and level up from 1-80 in PvP of any type and switch seamlessly from PvP to PvE as well without being at a loss.
Also the heal skill is 6, the first 5 skills are dependent on your weapon set.
Also, I love that the mesmer abilities are so awesome that they have metal chords as sound effects.
Mesmers are fucking metal. \m/ I beg of ArenaNet, have Jeremy Soule do some appropriately metal tunes for the game. Charr mesmers especially should get metal/industrial themes.
Did you notice that mesmer underwater abilities make music note particles instead of butterfly particles? It's amazing. I wish I could remember what the hell video I saw this in.

pvp is my deal. It's quite possible I won't even see some of the pve zones on some of my characters. And that excites me greatly.

Yeah, the PvP is for me, but the PvE needs to be there to pull my wife in. As long as both are interesting, bluebirds and shit will sing happily in our kitchen of domestic bliss.

I'm curious as to how long the Golem suit will last. Hopefully it be similar to the Charrzooka in that it has a set number of "charges" or something and not just a time limit. If so my preferred method of travel will be via giant awesome battlesuit.
It might be time based, otherwise you would see Golems from here to Orr.
Of course, that won't make using them any less enjoyable. At the very best, it'll be until they run out of health.
A bit late to the party, but as additional information Golem Suits can be built as siege weapons in wuvwuv - same mechanic as the other siege weapons, buy a blueprint, set up a build site anywhere in the world, feed it with supply, and voila! A golem suit that anyone can jump into.
Given enough money and supply, you could theoretically see an army of 100+ golems storming a keep.
Yea, the Hazmat is a nice alternative, although I heard you can't leave it because it'll break if you do.
I would love to see an army of golems storming a fort. Even if it was another server doing it, I would be pretty amazed by it.
Also, I love that the mesmer abilities are so awesome that they have metal chords as sound effects.

oh lovecraft, I thought since we are in the mmo subforum it's a comic about warcraft
but I guess not everything has to be about MMOs ^^
I honestly thought Dubstep was just some sort of musical internet joke meme. I had a sad when I discovered it was a real thing....
No, and don't let the "dubstep" previously linked on last page to deter you either.
That was some pretty terriblestep. And good dubstep is pretty good.
Yeah, that's the thing.
When people do dubstep right, it's really good.
When they do it wrong though... well, we just saw what happens.
On topic: I can't decide between mainlining a necro or an engineer. On the one hand I mained a necro in GW1 and I'm loving what I see of them in GW2 with the cadre of versatile horrors at your beck and call. However, then we have engineers with their Goonie-gadgets and flame throwers. But then necros have some pretty damned tasty staying power. But on the other hand flamethrowers.
I hate dubstep but it makes me play better in starcraft 2 or battlefield 3
is that weird
The great thing about different types of music is that they are really good at different things.
Dubstep has a heavy beat with definite but often subdued patterns, usually a quick tempo, and usually no words, which is (in my experience) pretty good at increasing my level of "flow". I enjoy dubstep when I'm coding or focusing on something that is high intensity.
But then I'm lucky enough to like the kind of music that increases my performance!

I would study to happy hardcore and dnb in college. But jazz gives me headaches.
I can listen to just about anything while gaming, but I'm also the kind of guy who'll cycle a song about 40-50 times in InfiniteLooper. Everything from symphonic video game tracks to top 40 to metal (Nightwish usually being in heavy rotation there). Grinding/farming fests tends to put me in a mood where I need to zone out and just have something in my headset for background noise.
EDIT: To keep things relatively on track - speaking of Jeremy Soule, I had no idea he was responsible for my favourite track off Secret of Evermore.

As in, "omg, who screwed up this very simple and routine task??"
"That would be the FNG."
