Need speakers that will attach to an LCD monitor...
I bought a glass desk and switched everything I could to wireless and bundled up all my wires, but my old tan speakers look crappy, have tons of wires, and don't fit with the rest of my equipment which is all black...
I'm really looking for some sort of speakers that will attach to my 19" acer lcd monitor. I know they used to make them for CRT monitors, but I haven't been able to find anything for LCD monitors.
This is the closest thing I have found, to give you an idea of what I'm trying to find:
I think the problem is that it's really difficult for a manufacturer to make speakers that can be universally mounted to any old LCD. You'll some LCD manufacturers make speakers that are specific to their monitors. Otherwise, you may be out of luck. I think gneGne's idea of wall mounting may be your best bet. Also, are you looking for just stereo speakers, or are you wanting a subwoofer, too? There are plenty of ultra-small speakers out there made for notebooks, but you would have to figure a way to mount them to the monitor.
You're going to have a couple of problems, though. First, you're not going to get big sound out of little speakers, even if they're high quality. Second, if you have the speakers mounted to your monitor, you'll get no stereo separation at all.
I'm not really looking for sound quality, this is my work machine in my office so I just need rudimintary sound for errors and misc media. And as for mounting it to the wall, I can't because the computer doesn't face the wall...
I found this one:
But from what I can tell I'd have to buy a 5.1 or 7.1 system just to mount the center channel and discard the rest...
