posted this in the camera dump thread earlier but this is the only part of my bookshelf for books that i give a fuck about
top shelf is miscellaneous Good Shit: lord of the rings, chandler, the Parker books, a couple library of america volumes (not pictured: the two noir collections i just got or the lovecraft one i'm getting soon), and some swedish leftist crime fic
the next shelf down is dresden files and comics that i'm reading
I just listened to a Science Friday interview with a Nobel-winning neuroscientist named Eric Kandel, about new book, The Age of Insight: The Quest to Understand the Unconscious in Art, Mind and Brain.
The interview was totally incredible, first of all, and the book sounds fascinating. I have some kindle gift dollars to use FOR FREE, but when I looked I saw that oh my goodness the kindle version costs $17.99 USD.
That is the most expensive kindle price I have ever seen for anything.
Yeah, that's a little bit more expensive than this, though I could swear I paid more for it but I guess I was mistaken.
it's pretty great. sadly it's my parents' house (probably about half of the books are mine/my brother's, though) so I won't have the glorious shelf space forever

My dad has about 5 bookshelves full of books, some of them two-deep. After watching some Hoarders, he's starting to make efforts to downsize. I've got dibs on some of his sci-fi and fantasy books. But he also has tons of history, particularly WW2 and Civil War books. He's trying to figure out what and how to downsize that collection.
My parents have probably about as many books, but with everything a lot less neatly organized- five different types of bookshelves, shit stacked on every coffee table and flat surface available, that sort of thing. I just moved out and didn't bring my books with me since I'm currently in a fairly small room with little furniture- the apartment proper has some more shelf space I could use, but I just haven't read much recently. Gotta pick me up some new books soon- wanna pick up that Chabon book y'all were reading among others.
Hey if any of you guys have a Kindle and like Poe and don't already have any Poe on your Kindle, Amazon has like an ass-ton of Poe stuff for free because of the movie coming out

I like Ozymandias and The Lovesong of J. Alfred Prufrock but they're so mainstream, you know
