I'm getting close to the end game. Holy shit, the haters are insane. There have been more badass moments in this game than the last two combined.
Final Cerberus level spoilers:
Yeah! Fuck you Cereal Killer! I just Shepard punched your goddamn sword apart. Oh, what's that? Omniblade sticking out of your gut? So sorry, except I'm not.
Assuming Shepard doesn't turn into a goldfish, I can't fathom how anyone could say this is a terrible game.
Cereal Killer?
Kai Leng is a troll god, he stole Captain Anderson's Cereal. And that is canon.
Oh yeah, and I renegade interrupted *Rannoch spoilers*

So there's that. Paragons miss out on so much fun.

I've played 30 hours in 3 days. I think I have a problem.
Human Vanguards are so broken in multiplayer...I mean it's coop so it's not hurting anyone. But when you can teleport to any visible unit then unleash an AOE knockback ability, then half a second later teleport again - with each teleport restoring 50% of your shields - you're just one man wrecking crew.
I'm confused, why did the normandy crash, and where did it crash? also how the fuck was liara on it, she was with me in the final assault
also, way to abruptly end it on us Bioware, yeah sure not interested in the ramifications of my actions here, no sir. I think we deserve some fucking explanation too, I mean... a lot of shit is still really goddamn vague
Cmon guys what the hell? You're really just going to leave us hanging like that with this being the last Mass Effect game? Fuck me that's stupid
so i just got a new xbox and my games saved to cloud saves. Im down loading ashes again but i cant find the pre order stuff and the old code doesnt work am i sol on that? which i can live with i got better guns an armor all ready. Edit: its gamestop dlc.

Alrighty, played about 4 hours of multiplayer, primariy with PUGs, and there was a suprising number of competent people. Did 2 bronze and 2 silver runs with some guys from the UK that were damn effective headshoters and with my engineer droping shields and stunning everybody with the wide radius Overload we steamrolled the bronze at around level 8-10 then jumped up to silver once we hit 12-14.
Shit got real on the silver, we squeaked through the first one with 2 guys needing revived during the LZ portion, but we got raped on wave 9 of the second run. 3 banshees and 2 brutes spawned at the same time and we just couldn't burn armor fast enough. I now know why everyone shudders when the banshee screams, they are like death incarnate.
My haul of packs netted me more missles than I'll probably ever use, a Scimitar III for when I want to get my Infiltrator/Vanguard on, a Carnifex II that's my engineer's new sidearm, a Viper, Incisor, Arc Pistol (is this useful? It's awful weighty and hits the same as the Carnifex), Krogan Soilder, Salarian engineer and Infiltrator, and an Avenger V.
I'm not a big MP shooter guy, but the wave based formula and rotating objectives, along with the combat mechanics themselves have me hooked. I just need to work on my aim, as sniping is definitely my weakpoint, if I get a headshot medal, its by accident

Anyone else disappointed that choosing Anderson or Udina is a throwaway decision? I would have had a greater sense of payoff if Anderson had chosen some unknown for his replacement to be the traitor, and having Udina not be a traitor if he was chosen. It just having what felt like a big choice have no impact was pretty disappointing.

I have an interpretation for the ME3 ending. It's not too long:
Personally, I don't buy the ending as it is written.
Hence, I have an interesting interpretation for this ending:
When Hackett gets on the radio and says that the Crucible isn't doing anything, I believe that Shepard lost consciousness. As a result, everything from that point onwards is simply Shepard's hallucinations as he slowly bled out. That would explain why the Guardian looks like the kid from Shepard's dreams and why Joker fled the Sol system in the thick of battle, an action which doesn't reflect his character as we know it at all.
Shepard was dreaming of a galaxy free from the Reapers as he slowly died from his wounds. That's my interpretation. Away from Shepard's hallucinations, Hackett and his men are probably scratching their heads at why the Crucible isn't working, and the Reapers redouble their assault on the organic fleet, forcing them to flee.
Still, crappy, crappy, ending though.
The kid looks like the kid because of one of the oldest Sci Fi tropes ever. "You could not comprehend my physical form so I have adopted one that you will be familiar with.
And I think even Joker would haul ass when he found out you were on the Citadel, and it was blowing the fuck up. He apparently found some time to rescue your crew off Earth and assumed you KIA and such. Joker has someone to live for now (EDI). I'm not sure he'd throw it away to save Shepard when there hasn't been any communication from her for a while and, again, the Citadel (and really the galaxy) are blowing the fuck up.

I was getting super irritated with them (mostly the level 17 ones who were still trolling bronze even though I was like level 4. How the shit am I supposed to compete with you?), and then I realized that if I just spam Singularity once I got enough talent points, the biotic explosion (and the singularity specific explosion from the talent) will give me kill credit. He was doing all the farm for me and I had like double the score.

I wonder if the current gnashing of internet teeth might persuade EA to make Bioware release a Broken Steel-style DLC.
I hope so, the door is open, I mean lets examine the situation:
-Shepard is still alive
-Everyone's technology is mostly intact
-The Salarian Homeworld and many colonies are still almost entirely intact
-The citadel is damaged, but obviously still in one piece since Shep survived, and has a working prototype mass relay on it that was not built by the catalyst
-Even without mass relays they still have the technology to reach the other races, it just takes a couple of years with their fastest ships
There's no reason we couldn't get a DLC that expands on the ending. And maybe tells us what the fuck happened to the Normandy because it made no fucking sense whatsoever

Damn. I don't know how you guys have beaten this damn thing already.
I mean, I do. I know it's not a long game, and I probably have a lot less time than you guys. But I'm also trying to savor the experience. I've been taking things pretty slow--talking to people as often as possible, poking around the galaxy, etc.
Presumably, this is the last time I'll play a new game with Commander Shepard, so I want to really enjoy it and not blow through shit.

actually I was wrong I guess it's not years for ships, they are actually considerably faster than star trek ships judging by the codex, the difference being without mass relays only ships with large drive cores could make the trips between say Earth and Thessia
But the retarded ending with the Normandy has to be leading somewhere, it just has to, because it's stupid.
I don't know, I hope they do something with it. I'm legitimately not interested in any DLC for this game the ending is so bad, this is worse than Battlestar Galactica's ending.

I kind of don't know what bonus power to take as an Adept.
The only one that's even vaguely appealing right now to me is armor piercing ammo, and do I really need that with cryo and incendiary?
Everything I've gotten (in the middle of playing with quarians) just doesn't seem to fit the Vanguard move list or is redundant.
Reave is amazing on vanguards. A really solid long range option for the times you need it, much better than shockwave. But I'm pretty sure I got it off Kaiden soooo.
So, Is the game supposed to ignore certain decisions I made in prior ones? I'm at rannoch and
The geth seem to be a hell of a lot weaker since the game elected to ignore me uniting the geth and heretic forces. Also: The quarians were out for fucking blood despite my advice.

Having slept some now and had some time to think about it:
The problem with the ending is it's not an epilouge to the game. Shepard probably dies anyway, but I wanted to know how my friends survived. The thing with the Normandy being the most glaring issue (I suspect they did it because if you choose synthesis all your friends would get weird-huskified, and in destroy it would kill EDI).
That's the problem. Shepard dying fucking sucks (I was looking for a 4th option there because damn it he was going to get back to Liara), but not knowing how things worked out for the Council races and for my friends is worse. I can accept that, while the dilemma may have been artificial, Shepard and everyone else just got screwed because the alien super-intelligence wouldn't just turn off the Reapers, it was convinced that evolution was a dark god that demanded sacrifices - given everything there wasn't going to be a good ending to it (wipe out all synthetic life isn't the answer when I just spent the entire game helping EDI and the Geth into bros).
I do hope we in fact get some different ending DLC. It just feels...unfinished the way it is. Based on the very last vid, I think they could easily go with "unreliable narrator" as an escape. Although personally I think if (my) Shepard was destroyed trying to control the Reapers, that he's god damn Shepard and would have commanded them to resurrect him once they stopped killing everything.

I'm pretty sure you can talk to someone and hear the reasoning behind both. And you urged the Quarians not to go to war, but that doesn't necessarily mean they'll listen. I do think there are dialog options/resolutions that are available to you specifically because you made those decisions, but you have to play through the whole thing to see how it goes.

I'm late to the party, I just recently got the original Mass Effect. I have a question: Is it possible to make a cutom Shepard that DOESN'T look like a failed abortion? Also, which class for a first playthrough?
I only tried the Argus in the firing range, but man I hated its slow refire and slow burst and huge climb.
On bonus powers, the greatest of all tragedies: adrenaline rush evolution only allows an offensive power, meaning not Marksman, so my dream of slow-mo sniper Revenant has been crushed. Then I spent a long time deciding which of the two to level for now, since I don't actually have the Rev on this character yet. I'm just happy to find that bonuses are universal, so my soldier who sacrificed Ashley due to redundancies can still get it as a bonus power because my other Shep has her alive.

@Gigazombie Cybermage, ME1? I'd vote adept. Soft in the beginning when your cooldowns are massive, but by the end you can spam your power bar and have your first power recharged by the time you get to the end, and have everyone up on the ceiling during that time. Biotics are way different in ME1 than the later games, so you should check them out while they're in god mode. Also, the pistol is the strongest weapon in the game when using its weapon skill.
Also watch out, this thread is going to constantly spoiler anything that isn't ME3. You should probably just stay out, only dropping in to ask questions (like if you get the Therum black lava texture bug) and ignoring all the posts except responses that notify you with the @ thing.

vanguard, all the way through to 3.
and eh.. in mass 1 it takes awhile to get the hang of a decent shep face, its easier in mass 2 but you have to start from scratch again if you want to alter it (unless you screenshot the face sliders and match em up and then tinker, thats what i did in my last run)
oh and you might want to actually do that since once you get to 3 importing your face is going to bug out if you havent tried to change it in 2, might be fixed by the time you get there though.
