I really don't think it'll be Barry. That makes zero sense.
I'd bet my left nut that it's Jimmy Olsen. Iconic enough that you get huge press but not really all that dangerous for DC to do because he's not headlining a book on his own.
Alfred or Jimmy are safe bets but I am going with The Atom, Ryan Choi.
Dude is a solid B-Lister and has yet to be introduced on the League yet.
Press release stated "iconic character"
I wouldn't really put Choi anywhere near iconic.
But it is Didio so who knows, he could just be blowing smoke.

Yeah, but it depends on how broadly they're defining iconic, which could really mean anything. "The Atom" has been kicking around since the 40's, whether it's been Al Pratt, Ray Palmer, or Ryan Choi. Or you could narrowly define "iconic" as the Big 7, but I highly doubt that's how Didio's using the word.
Just putting it out there that "having had heterosexual relationships" doesn't disqualify a person/character from being gay. There are people who go through entire marriages before they come out of the closet.
So I read the Justice League: Origin hardcover while killing time at Barnes and Noble today
the story definitely reads better when collected and I actually like it quite a bit. It isn't perfect by any stretch, Lee's art is still sketchy and rushed, there are some really terrible lines("You're the worlds' greatest super-humans!" and "You're strong." "I know." come to mind) and Batman unmasking to a dude he met earlier that day still makes no goddamn sense. But the interteam relationships and dialogue are solid and fun, the fight scenes are entertaining and the way that STAR Labs and other things are all interwoven through the DCnU ala Ultimate Universe and the super-soldier serum is really cool.
Yeah I am totally on board with Lemire writing JLD. It has a pretty great cast, he writes a wonderful Constantine and I am down to see all of the new mystic shit in the DCU.

Changing a literary character (retconing) from straight to gay is not something empowering to gay people is it?
I mean would not a new strongly written but also gay character be preferable to an odd sexuality retcon?
ie new ultimate spiderman which has been pretty good.
Isnt one of the major things "I was born this way?" Changing an established thing would seem like pandering. is it not?

If it's a character that hasn't appeared in the New DCU yet, then no, definitely not. If they have, people come out all the time. With a good writer and a smart artist, it's definitely empowering.
(It would only be a retcon if they washed away previous relationships by a character.)

99% chance whoever is picked is going to be a cliche.
I mean they're making this a media event for attention.
What's the odds it's going to be done for the good of the character instead of "Hey we can do talk shows and get on the news with this!"
It's a shame that such things can't just be a natural occurrence instead of a driven agenda.
I couldn't agree more. This whole thing is just completely unnecessary. Why does it matter what a hero's sexual orientation is. DC really needs to start working on it's stories, instead of it's sensationalism. This is not the company I used to love.

Fair enough.
Wonder how major a character it will be and how well they handle it writing wise?
I mean rise of arsenal handled addiction so god damn well and in an adult manner i am filled with optimisim that this will go well.

It really depends upon who it is. DC has some really bad, really good, and really surprising writers right now, and talent is going who knows where with the end of most exclusives.
Speaking of, did people notice DnA are writing Resurrection Man #12? There's a prominent team now working for both teams.

heh, they've been writing Resurrection Man since the new 52 started
"Ride or Die?" asked Goku
"Ride or Die" confirmed Dominic Toretto, as they took off to find the Dragon Balls in hopes of reviving their friend Sonic

Throwing my mother Batwoman: Elegy in a few minutes. Excited to see what she thinks of it.
(I'm going over splash pages with her first, though. I was plenty lost during Elegy at points.)

Did Flash not come out this week? My LCS says they didn't get it, but it's a brand new place in town, not entirely sure I trust them to know wtf they're doing.
Aquaman was good. I love the Prisoner of War character. I would totally buy a mini of that guy.
Hawkman ... a major improvement. I'm not to the point of completely gushing over this book, but finally coherent storytelling in both the art and story. I know, shocker coming from Liefeld, eh? (again, he's not the artist on the book, nor the scripter, just the plotter.)
So right now I'm only getting Snyder's Batman for my DC fix but I plan on getting around 4 books in trade format later in the year just for the fact that these select titles are skipping hardcover format. They are iVampire, Swamp Thing, Justice League Dark, and a 4th I haven't decided yet. Any suggestions? Keep in mind I'm not bothering with any Green Lantern titles but I'll consider another Bat book.

Earth G(ay).
I nominate Mogo.
Yes.
It fits.
why you gotta say these things, Munch
why
Because he's the sensitive, caring sort? That's a bad stereotype straight out of central casting.
If they're going to go that route I'd rather it not be a cliche.

It won't. Didio and Johns' love Barry as is, they're not going to change his sexuality under any circumstance
Also I think it's Killer Croc.

Apparently there are hints given in issue 9 that Etrigan, Swamp Thing, and Animal Man will all show up soon.

I love that
I would not be surprised if Dream showed up sooner or later, and I trust Lemire to do him justice
also Andrew Bennet really makes me want to read I, Vampire. I think I will buy the trade.
