Hitch says he was offered a Supes/Bat book with Meltzer, but scheduling didn't work out. He's going to be doing creator owned stuff for the foreseeable future.

He does confirm Man of Steel by Snyder (and probably Jim Lee)

No, Brubaker made him leader of The Hand in his last issue. Matt did it to stop Kingpin from becoming their leader.

New DC annuals announced for January

Green Lantern Corps and Green Lantern New Guardians Annuals, cool

sounds like this is where Giffen gets to tell his Superman annual story, if a bit repurposed

edit: And the Corps annual is really important since it ends the Rise of the Third Army (pre-)event

I wonder why they didn't just use the black suit from Batman Beyond. That costume looks fine.

Also, the terribleness of Superman Returns is exponentially correlated to how much you think about it. If you don't think about it at all, it's sort of just meh and inoffensive but as soon as you start considering the implications of the characters' actions and motivations, it's a huge downward spiral.

I like this cover. I can't help laughing though at the idea of Superboy beating up Superman for his costume and making Supes wear the 'AC-Year 1' suit instead.

  • TairuTairu Registered User regular
This is actually kinda cool, I always thought that the new Superman suit would look way better on Superboy. And Superman wearing his t-shirt look again is the best. The best.

    i can't tell what's going on there

is that in fact Superman wearing the good costume of the new 52 and Superboy wearing the inferior copy

    that's perfect

  • TairuTairu Registered User regular
Well Superboy can't be more than 6 at this point and Rose... I dunno, 18?

  • TexiKenTexiKen Dammit! That fish really got me!Registered User regular
Ah, ok. Barrows just isn't the best at drawing teenagers then. Rose looks like she's twentysomething, and I thought maybe the Ravagers are older than the Teen Titans.

Actually the new costume didn't look half bad when drawn by someone competent like, say, Morales. He actually made it work.

  • AntimatterAntimatter Devo Was Right Gates of SteelRegistered User regular
you will never be able to convince me that the new 52 suit isn't garbage, no matter who draws it. it may be well drawn, but i still think it's an inferior attempt at updating a classic design.

Sucker Punch was a disappointment. Returns is a bad adaption, but a decent movie (though it's best not to think too much about the story).

The Snyder/Lee superman book is confirmed (no title yet though)
    http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=41540
Snyder: I think one of the interesting things about him is that Clark is always Clark. I think sometimes people like Batman you see that Bruce Wayne is the mask he wears. But for Superman, the thing that makes him such a strong character is that the values he grew up with and the person he was raised to be are still at the core of what makes him the most powerful superhero on earth. This isn't going to be a story where it's Clark versus Superman or seeing the two of them split. It's more about challenges for Superman that rock him to the core emotionally, psychologically and also physically. It really is going to wind up putting him up against someone who can go blow-to-blow with him and really take him down.

    "Ride or Die?" asked Goku

"Ride or Die" confirmed Dominic Toretto, as they took off to find the Dragon Balls in hopes of reviving their friend Sonic

Clark being Clark, who'd a thunk it?

As long as Snyder can steer away from the emo loner Superman we see in JL, or in For Tomorrow (what the heck is the interviewer smoking, For Tomorrow didn't have a 1940's design to it at all), it should have potential. Although I admit when I read trying to "rock Clark psychologically," I get weary. Emotional? Physical? Hurricane? Sure. Save the psychoanalysis for Bruce or Hal.

The whole 'deadbeat dad, abandoned his responsibilities, super-stalker' iteration of Superman in Superman Returns was tough to get over. The retread of the Luthor real estate nonsense? Tough to get past.

The airplane sequence was well done, though!

I know there is going to be a lot of monologues about specific facts that Pa Kent has told young Clark about the world

    And strange poses and faces

But I am so excited for the new Snyder/Lee Superman comic (not called Man of Steel yet?)
