It's written by someone who's not actually a member of the community?
There's a word for reporting on things you aren't a part of through observation: it's called "journalism"
Well, I had to squint at that twitpic or whatever, but most of that article reads as editorializing, not reporting. Though that's really neither here nor there.
The tone is particularly snotty and vindictive, and it doesn't speak at all to the pervasiveness of casual prejudices in favor of ascribing an overwhelming misanthropy to the scene. In addition to not effectively addressing the issues, he also makes no attempts at addressing any manner of resolution. For as dodgy as sites like 1up and Kotaku tend to be, this article is much more the hit piece that people wanted to be defensive about than anything those guys previously published.
I didn't even read it yet. I was just pointing out that the writer not being part of the community is irrelevant.

Well, I know what you mean generally, but he does anchor a substantial amount of his argument about the scene on his claimed personal exposure to it.

Fair enough but an article's accuracy should not be considered contingent to the writer's direct association with the subject matter. With proper research and due diligence one could put together a scathing yet accurate portrayal of FGC without being an active figure within it.
every race, sexuality, personality, body type, gender configuration is visibly represented
Yeah, there were at least 6 women at Final Round not counting the NOS booth babes.
One girl playing marvel at FR would smack herself in the head when she did something stupid in a match... like.. hard enough to where I thought a helmet should be necessary.
Other than that I saw sara, kinder's lady, sherry jenix and a couple other random females.
but my understanding is that the diversity is sort of what's causing the problem
the fgc has all these different people now, and so the mentality of bros tossing around n and f-words and making lude comments about women just ain't gonna cut it anymore
i actually played a fighting game again last night. it was fun.
i'm still not sure why anybody stops blocking low against Kazuya. it's just not worth it to guess the 60 to 90 dmg overhead is coming, when you are risking 400 to 600 damage if you get hit by a low attack instead.

yeah I'd rather just DB it and react with a stand block to his overheads. way less stress overall. my favorite tactic against kazuya though is to take the SFxT disc out and replace it with KOF13. it's 100% effective.
I'd say the first 5 of the ten combos in mission mode in KoF are pretty reasonable and maybe the first hd combo it gives you.
The rest is just to test you.
The game gets a lot of attention for being his super high execution exercise in frustration. But honestly.. the bnbs aren't that bad with a little practice.

you were hanging out with teenage boys in 1992
Guess what
It doesn't matter if you were playing games or watching a movie or solving an equation or fucking a girl

yes, some people in the fgc, and really, all of life, are massive shitheads, and should stop that

but damn those people are protective of their chat. It would not be popular

yes he is the worst
No doubt but FGC does have serious and noteworthy acceptance issues.

IS THIS EVEN TRUE?

the community also happens to be inclusive of weirdo creepers who have given us a bad name.
So what you're saying is that we're not hateful enough? I think I can solve that problem.

cannon strike, hp xx cannon spike fadc cannon spike fadc ultra
took me under five minutes today though
(i didn't realize the second fadc is supposed to be backward for a little bit)
haha, I remember getting stuck on that trial, looking on YouTube and seeing it was backward, and raging
they really need to add a "demo" option to the trials
Marvel needs a demo option too. Shit every game that has a mission mode does.
Know what game already has it?
