    So I'm sick of dealing with your average gravel-covered base and I'm looking at resin bases.

    I've looked at Secret Weapon's stuff. Anyone got something else to recommend?

    The easiest place to start is CMON's web store. While I don't like buying from them, you can certainly look through the bases section and see what a number of manufacturers offer.
    I also like these guys, who they don't carry.

    I purchased a bunch of these for the minis I got from them, and they're so high quality it makes painting them a breeze.

    They're great I knocked out three testers in about an hr or two of playing around. Now that I have the scheme worked out the remaining 17 should be cake

    I more or less accidentally won a 15 point highlander tournament last night. I was incredibly surprised, but apparently my strength of schedule was the highest of the 3-1 records.
    Lessons learned:
    3 minute turns are crazy
    Vengeance units are a poor choice with 3 minute turns
    A Phoenix is actually capable of 1-rounding a Titan Gladiator (when your dice don't roll below average for literally ever attack like mine did last night [and then your one heroic sentinel who can totally push through that last 6 damage misses his attack =_= ])
    pGoreshade is one of the least aggrivating Cryx warcasters

    Also super happy to have my Phoenix painted. It looks so great on the table. I'll put pictures up in the miniatures thread in a day or two.

    So, I played vs 35 points of Cryx last night. I think this was the list:

    System: Warmachine
    Faction: Cryx
    Casters: 1/1
    Points: 35/35
    Iron Lich Asphyxious (*6pts)
    * Deathripper (4pts)
    * Helldiver (3pts)
    * Skarlock Thrall (2pts)
    Bane Thralls (Leader and 9 Grunts) (8pts)
    Satyxis Blood Witches (Leader and 9 Grunts) (6pts)
    * Satyxis Blood Hag (2pts)
    Satyxis Raiders (Leader and 9 Grunts) (8pts)
    * Satyxis Raider Sea Witch (2pts)
    Bane Lord Tartarus (4pts)
    Satyxis Raider Captain (2pts)

    We played with three objectives, whatever that mission is called.

    So, what the heck do I do as Khador when his Satyxis Raiders move 14" in turn one and generally snags all three objectives on the first turn?

    My Winterguard did a good job of grapeshotting seven Satyxis Raiders on my turn one, but I still had trouble dislodging them from the objective. What do Khador do in general in objective games?

    My list last night:

    System: Warmachine
    Faction: Khador
    Casters: 1/1
    Points: 35/35
    Vladimir, The Dark Prince (*5pts)
    * Drago (8pts)
    * Kodiak (8pts)
    Doom Reavers (Leader and 5 Grunts) (6pts)
    * Greylord Escort (2pts)
    Widowmakers (Leader and 3 Grunts) (4pts)
    Winter Guard Infantry (Leader and 9 Grunts) (6pts)
    * Winter Guard Infantry Officer & Standard (2pts)
    Kell Bailoch (2pts)
    Kovnik Jozef Grigorovich (2pts)

    I ran Kell Bailoch to deal with any incorporeal stuff... which he didn't end up having any this game.

    Note that in order for units to claim objectives (unless they changed this in SR2014), the unit must be at least at 50%, one model must be touching, and the others must all be within I think 4" of the objective? Units are generally bad at objective holding.

    Ah, that changes things. We ran it straight from the rulebook, but we've been talking about switching over to Steamroller scenarios.

    Satyxis are one of the worst things to deal with in scenario games vs. Cryx. Luckily they're not super common (ironically because they are terrible against Cryx) but they are nasty. I don't know if she's as popular nowadays, but Old Witch used to be the go-to for scenario play. You get to pop feat and watch the Cryx army mill around helplessly for a turn.

    I am curious exactly what scenario you were playing.

    edit: oh yeah if you're not playing SR it's going to be hard for us to answer questions about scenario play. The tournament rules are very different.

    Also I love that we have an actual mod posting in our 106-page thread. Should I make a new OP? It'll likely just be copypasta of this one, with a bit of new info.

    Is incursion the one with 3 flags? I'd guess that off-hand ...

    It was plain old Killing Field out of the rulebook.

    He sprinted his Raiders up the field and past the objective on one side to bog me down... but he didn't count on Signs & Portents plus Kovnik Joe giving my Winterguard 4d6, drop lowest on the attack rolls. Think I dropped seven Raiders with Grapeshot on my turn one (he went first). But then the Raiders engaged my WG and it turned into a big tarpit.

    And as usual I went "duuuuh" right after I was done with my deployment. Need to get better at that.

    And feel free to make a new thread whenever.

    Intelligent deployment is surprisingly hard. It's one of the reasons that you need to practice with your lists before they get up to speed. You need to be able to unpack your models, make sure your front line ends up in front, keep your movement lanes clear, keep your support safe but relevant, account for terrain, account for enemy deployment, and account for scenario.

    That's a lot.
