Yeah, just buy an international pre-paid card from anywhere. They'll have them at the airport.

Walmart sells a calling card that actually has fairly good rates, at least in Canada.

And I've done a fair bit of shopping around, until this year I relied on calling cards to keep in touch with family while on military courses. If you are going away form a while and using them like I was, Vox offers a great service. Their rates are not as good as others, but you have the option of aiding the remaining balance on previous cards to a new card.

If you have an unlocked GSM phone, once you get down there you can pick up a Digicell prepaid SIM card and use it to call back to the states but it's pretty expensive. If I remember right it was about $1.00-$1.50 per minute back to the states... on island it's a lot more reasonable at about 10-20 cents per minute. If they still exist you can try Lime wireless, they were a lot less expensive but had a smaller network so it may not work everywhere you need it to.

When I was in T&T a couple years back I used google voice to make all my calls. Any number in the US(and canada?) is free to call to, but that only works if you'll have reliable internet access, obviously.

If you can stomach not having access everywhere and have internet in your room, skype/google voice might be an option too.

not a doctor, not a lawyer, examples I use may not be fully researched so don't take out of context plz, don't @ me
