You know what would have been better? Batman tries to do that again, but because he's not cleared for access at the onsite control panels, a laser shoots him in the face.

Episode needed more villians killing aliens, but otherwise was good.

Ok, I can't wrap my head around the concept of Babs saying that she got fucked so hard she couldn't walk. I mean, that's like my porno movie dream, but I just know I'm going to be disappointed when I read the actual comic.

Well, if you're dissapointed with the Nightwing Annual after reading it, then you don't know good comics. That Annual was the best thing to happen to Nightwing in a looong time,

And for the record, the actual exchange was..(post coitus, of coise.)

    Babs - "Morning"

Dick - "Good morning, uh..about last night.."

Babs - "Yeah. I don't know what you did to me, but now I can't feel my legs."

    Dick - "Babs!"

    So, new Batman issue.

Is there a silver age story or something about Three Batmen? Cause I kind of got the impression that the black casebook is where all the wacky, campy Batman stories go and it seems Morrison's run is all about reworking and bringing those stories back.

The art seems to be getting a little better too.

This new Morrison story feels a little... off. It's like he's teetering right on the verge of writing him like All-Star Batman sometimes. That sort of testosterone supercharged "X-Treme Batman". Taking all of his personality traits and cranking them up to 11.

Morrisson does write an over the top Batman, but not in the same way as Miller. Morrison hates "asshole" Batman. See his JLA: Classified arc for further proof of both of the above.

I think Morrison's Batman is pretty much written how Batman should be at this point (post-Infinite Crisis / One Year Later).

Yeah, there was an old Batmen of Many Nations story.

From solicits, I know that is definitely coming back, but I meant specifically a story involving these three Batmen. A murder, a muscled monster, and one that destroys Gotham.

DiDio said at one of the last conventions that Morrison (and Dini) are on their repsective books for as long as they like.

Yeah, but unfortunately we sometimes have to wait for the good things in life.

Dini has the next two months on Detective, and then gone for another two issues. Morrison is set (well, solicitied) until July. Batman seems to be absent on the August Solicits though.

Yeah, it's pretty frustrating. Out of the nine Detective Comics solicitated so far for this year, four have been fill-ins. I don't expect them to throw him in a dungeon and force them to finish, but a little more continuity would be nice. Why not get someone who can sit on the sidelines and fill-in for either Batman comics when needed? Like how Fabian Nicieza is used on the Superman titles.

I was blown away. Whoever's writing for the standard book needs to step down gracefully in lieu of this writer who delivers the goods that I (and hopefully everyone else), as a long-suffering Nightwing fan, desire.

Speaking of his parents, are there any stories about them? His mom in particular seems to be neglected as both a character and an influence on him.

    Via the Wiki:
Since her death, Martha Wayne has only appeared in the Batman series in flashback and in the occasional out-of-body experience or hallucination. Her most significant appearance in this latter category is in the miniseries Batman: Death and the Maidens by Greg Rucka. In this story, Batman ingests an elixir given to him by his enemy, Ra's al Ghul, and believes he is having a conversation with his dead parents. Martha is depicted here as a beautiful woman whose face is marred by a bleeding bullet wound. Interestingly, Martha strongly disapproves of her son's costumed crusade, fearing he has thrown away his chance for happiness.

It's hilarious how they used to think simply having dead parents was motivation enough, and that actually examining the relationship between a hero and the deceased would be superfluous.

I was always curious about that, especially in Begins. If his mom had died earlier on maybe itd be understandable but he pretty much just ignores her. I can get the bond between a son nad his dad, his dad obviously got Bruce, but surely his mom wasn't some total bitch.

I think it probably goes back to Frank Miller's influence on Batman, since he tended to write Bruce as having a very strong relationship with his father, to the point of almost idolizing him after his death. And I think that ultimately Bruce's dad is the more fleshed out of the two (we know that he was a doctor, but I don't think his mom was ever expanded beyond just being Bruce's mother), so it's just easier to focus on him.

Being strongly influenced by your mother probably goes against Frank Miller's, and most other's, image of the prototypical tough man.

He doesn't have to take after her, he obviously worships his fathers desire to help others but he can still love his mom. While its shown he rmembers her with his dad, theres no reason given for the love except she existed.

I always felt that Bruce Wayne's charitable activities were an aspect of him following in his mother's footsteps. When Martha Wayne is referred to, that aspect of her is usually the main one mentioned.

Well, I mean... she's his mom. There's not really any other reason needed for why he loved her. It could just be a case where he was really close to his dad and didn't spend much time with his mom, as is the case with some kids.

Good point, though Bruce Wayne seems to give to charity more often than he actually involves himself in charity.

Which I suppose makes sense given the image of the playboy.

I was going to mention Marv, but I guess he wasn't really "influenced" by his mother, just protective of her.
