Solar you should stop reminding me you don't like Chris Bachalo because I really don't want to hate you

    that's

that's the nicest thing anyone's ever said to me...

Seriously though I like some of his work, like his covers which I think he spends more time on making sure they are not scratchy and overly busy

but his interior work aint my thing at all

That's why it had such synergy with the themes and plot of WatXM!

The chaos and overcrowding of the new Jean Grey school was mirrored beautifully with the art.

AoA Nightcrawler was left in a very interesting position last UXF. Hopefully Remender or Aaron are writing whatever that is, as they seem like the only current X-Writers who could handle him well.

Just watch, it'll be Loeb and once more I will have to find an empty field in which to howl my rage at the heavens.

Jason Aaron has said that there was BIG storyline coming up that would be starting in WatXM #25. Seems like this could be that.

    Well Kurt did
    leave with Mystique, right?

Cause that would make sense with WatXM's current direction

It could also be related to the AoA world, what with the X-Terminated and all

Age of Apocalypse is currently a fun ass book you guys

I hope that we see it continue and do well

I thought of this but it's hard to imagine this version of Kurt working for Kilgore

What has been happening in that AoA series? I stopped reading around the second or third issue when it turned out it was an ongoing, not a mini (I think the AoA stuff works a lot better in small bites every now and then instead of getting an ongoing).

  • BalefuegoBalefuego Registered User regular
Like plot specifics or are you asking about the general format/structure of the book.

I guess main stuff that could possibly jump into the regular universe, because I stopped reading around the point where
Jean lost her powers and was being trained by Stryker's people, and people were being brought back to life to work with Apocalypse Wolverine, and it just felt like there was very little room to go anywhere with an ongoing in that universe. I know there was the guy from our world who was a reporter, but that's about it.

Well the most recent story arc involved
the X-Terminators making an alliance with Doom to build them a weapon out of the celestial seed that will allow them to kill Weapon Omega
    .

I read ANXM #2 in the store, and it was a faster read than the first issue. And it's very bipolar, as the actual young X-Men are reacting correctly and all have the right sense of WTF going on, it's just the current X-Men who are being idiots and Hank himself is kind of showing he'd be a bad father. It did seem like Bendis really isn't using Consequences for any springboard, he's using everything before it and AVX.
Hank, the dude with the magic time machine that can fix this whole problem, kind of just lays all the blame at Cyclops' feet for what is about to happen and guilt trips him, and basically scares Jean to tears. This is also the first time it seems Jean uses her telepathy after Xavier blocked it.

They all go to the present and Wolverine smells Cyclops and basically gets ready to kill him in a cool Immonen page (which felt wrong considering where Consequences ended with the two) but Jean stops him and the team blasts him. Present Bobby and future Bobby freak out. Hank collapses, and is dying it seems.

Logan yells at the YXM some more to get them to go back to their time but Jean makes him sleep while they go out to find new mutants who are appearing to confront present Cyclops without any help from the current team

I do wonder if the young X-Men will correctly call out the fact that the current X-Men aren't doing anything to help mutants.

The second guy Cyclops saved in the last issues was in questioning for healing someone.

Do we know how far in the past the YXM are from? Like 15 years?

I mean, they're having fun with the 60s vibe from them, but obviously that's not actually the case.

  • BlankZoeBlankZoe Registered User regular
They haven't given a concrete date and probably won't what with the sliding timeline of Marvel

    CYpGAPn.png
  • BalefuegoBalefuego Registered User regular
they've flat out said they are not giving an exact date or even era.

Sliding timeline for Marvel used to be "the FF went up in their rocket 7 years ago, and it'll always be 7 years", but I think that went out the window a few years after the Hero's Return storyline.

I think that about 15 years is a good ballpark though. If, for instance, Scott was about 20 then and is about 35 now, that seems right.

  • BlankZoeBlankZoe Registered User regular
Yeah. The closest thing we have gottent official dates and ages lately is Brevoort saying how old he considers characters on his formspring.

Hank Pym is mid 40s, as is Reed. Tony and Steve are in their 30s and Peter is late 20s.

It makes sense to me at this point for Steve to have been unfrozen for about ten years. If he was in his 20s during the war and in his 30s now, that seems right.
