Should I buy "Prince of Persia: Revelations"?

Prince of Persia: Revelations

I found this PSP game on the discount rank at my local place of business for $17.98.

Should I buy it? Yes. Or No?

I found it to be very sluggish. It's like The Warrior Within, but bad.

I would wait for more opinions, though. I played it for about five minutes.

I was just wondering. I played a bit of "The Sands of Time" at a buddy's house and relatively enjoyed it, though I didn't have the appropriate time to get sucked in. I don't have any of the current consoles (GCN, PS2, XBox) and I don't plan on purchasing them so I was just seeing what my other options were.

Which of the other PoP games have you played?

Well, it's Warrior Within but on the psp, with a few extra maps inserted throughout the game, which makes the game even longer to finish. It doesn't run as nicely as the console version, framerate is a bit low. But I guess it's ok if you want some PoP on the go and you've got some spare money to burn.

Oh and the camera was made for fullscreen and hasnt changed much in the psp port. That means sometimes you won't see that ledge standing above you when you normally would've. But you can still look around with the camera.

There is a port of The Two Thrones coming to PSP soon. I would say its a much better game, personally, and probably worth the wait.

Ugh, I don't really reccomend this then. Unlike the 2 other ps2/xbox/gamecube PoP, this one isn't entirely linear. You often return to the same hub area and explore different parts of the castle. It can be confusing to remember where you were going, especially if you stop playing for a few days.

I don't think there's anything wrong with TWW, personally, as a game. It's not a HORRIBLE game. If you want a HORRIBLE Prince of Persia experience, go find Prince of Persia 3D. I can't honestly call The Warrior Within a "horrible" game after playing PoP 3D which was just a complete fucking mess.

My gripe is just that the PSP version is too sluggish - framerate is too bad - for it to be enjoyable. I never cared to look up reviews though so I don't know if that was just my PSP acting up or not. Someone else mentioned bad framerates here.

If it is like that throughout the game, you will NOT want to play Revelations on the PSP. Go find some way to play The Warrior Within on a different system instead, or pass on it.

I also imagine if you have a controller, the PC port of Sands of Time woul dbe perfectly playable, maybe try that first?

If this game is as broken as the original version of warrior within then I would politely decline this offer.

I made a somewhat angry thread about that games decision to prevent me fighting the last boss. It was CAPSLOCK ++.

Simply put play SoT on a console. It's a beautiful game, thats represents some higher level understand of what a game is. And my personal multiformat game of the generation.

Warrior within is like an angry drunk hobo raping the previous game. My hate of it is strong.

Two Thrones is good though. But thats because it's plot is entirely designed to be a way to apologise for WW.

There is a port of the third Sands-game as well, called Rival Swords instead of Two Thrones. Maybe you'll like that better than of Revelations?

Revelations is really not worth buying in my opinion. Warrior Within is significantly worse than the other two recent PoP games (still not horrible, I guess), and the Revelations port was worse than the original version.

I really think it's essential to play them in order (though you can skip) WW. If you have a GC, Xbox or PS2, pick up SoT and play that first. It's really cheap now anyhow.

    Seriously it's leagues ahead.

I bought and really tried to play Revelations, being a fan of the PoP series. The game is a really messed up, buggy port of the Warrior Within. The load times are long and the framerate will hitch whenever the game has to try and load new sounds from the disc.

The core game is still in there, but you have to wade through the crap. If you want PoP on PSP, I'd recommend waiting for Rival Swords. I hope that port turns out better...

The PC versions are all pretty good, and they're all very fun to play with keyboard and mouse. I have a PS2 dual shock 2 plugged to the PC, but I preferred to play iwth KB+M.
