Techno is often used for any form of Electronic Dance Music, but it has a pretty specific meaning and lineage. Techno was invented by the "Bellville 3" -- Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson, and Derrick May, in the middle part of the 80's in Detroit, USA. It evolved with the second wave, featuring the likes of Underground Resistance and Ritchie Hawtin, and had tons of influence in the UK and Berlin, leading to all sorts of genres and subgenres like acid, rave, minimal, etc.
House music was invented in Chicago, and incorporated lots of post-disco dance music, like Garage music which developed out of the gay clubs in NYC. It commonly features more upbeat and soulful influences and instances, with jazz samples and complex 7th and 9th chords. Techno will often have a hard downbeat with a driving sound with synths and hihats creating a "jacking" progression, whereas house is often on the upbeat, with chord progressions creating a loopy, "skippy" feel.
Electronica generally means more melodic, composed, less-dancy electronic music, and is often contrasted with EDM, Electronic Dance Music.
These are some of my favorite techno acts. You should not only learn names/acts, but also labels. For instance, if someone is releasing on Tresor/Drumcode/Sandwell District, you know what to expect from them.
Juan Atkins
Kevin Saunderson
Derrick May
Eddie Fowlkes
Underground Resistance
Jeff Mills
Mike Banks
Ritchie Hawtin
Surgeon
Luke Slater
Planetary Assault System
The Black Dog
Regis
Robert Hood

Last year, I think they also did Live streaming too.
I saw this awesome part of interview with Jeff Mills in some documentary somewhere, where he makes a track, has his mom listen to it and she says, "Needs more bass!"
