I thought it was a pretty silly goose viewpoint of him to think all rich people are inherently evil and if they had the opportunity to would reenact the plot to the Most Dangerous Game.

There are certain people in positions of power in certain industries that I think genuinely enjoy the suffering of those less fortunate. They would be incapable of doing their jobs otherwise.
Like Rick Scott, the unfortunately current governor of Florida- there's something of the sadist in him, I think. I think you have to be a sadist to turn the care of the sick into a business with profit margins.

You're right, but I think that counts for all social classes, I would think that most middle-class suburban people don't give two shits about anyone but themselves, the rich are just in a position of power so their faults are more visible. I think every class has its fair share of terrible people.
There are a lot of asshole rich people because people are, in general, assholes. It isn't like poor people are somehow trodden on paragons of virtue. Poor people are just as shitty.
People are selfish, cruel, and more likely to shun difference and group up with others like themselves than not.
It isn't being rich that makes them somehow an asshole. That's the fallacy.

As Ubik says, the terrible rich people have enough money to translate their viciousness into acts of genuine harm.
There are genuine studies, which I really need to dig up, which propose that many high-level positions in certain industries self-select for sociopathic behavior. Not only are there assholes among the rich, but the structure of power at the top helps them get into positions of authority.
