I will now give a complete, step by step lesson on learning chord-scales.

    1. Buy a book about chord-scales

    2. Take a class on chord-scales

    3. Cry for approx. 30 minutes

    4. Give up on chord scales and play rock and roll instead.

Alt 4. Learn chord scales, and never use them again.

    Or:
    HWWWHWW

Sounds really good over any sort of minor chord. The minor modes (Dorian, Phrygian, Aeolian and, if you're careful, Locrian) can all be used interchangeably when playing in a minor key.

And in reply to all the posts about the blues: The blues is tremendously interchangeable. There's no right or wrong way to play any aspect of it. People can play it with the defined chord changes, or fill it with all sorts of dominants and diminished chords and ii-Vs and what have you. So take anything anyone tells you about the blues with a grain of salt, because you can probably just change it to fit your liking anyways.

Also never listen to Bob about anything. Even if he's right, he's wrong.

    It's true.
Also he has the worst memory ever so you can bet that anything he wrote from memory is super wrong.

I dunno, I've always been pretty good at just remembering stuff like that. I've always liked "eyadguhbee" (EADGBE) for remembering the strings on the guitar, though, back when I was first learning.

What was everyone's first song learned? I learned Oasis' "Wonderwall" and Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" in a guitar class, but Blink182's "Dammit" was the first song I ever figured out on my own.

shit, i think the first song i remember learning properly, like all the way through may be all the small things by blink 182 :S

though my dad taught me daytripper and i think sunshine of your love amongst a bunch of other stuff on the bass before that

I've always been better at bass than guitar so i basically played power chords till a year or 2 ago and im only now really getting up on my theory
