When I am working full-time I take home about $980 out of a $1460 paycheck. When I go back on full-time this summer I will be getting reamed even worse.
Butters where are you that these things are happening to your paycheck?
Ohio has earned the reputation as the 3rd highest taxed state in the union. But you'll see you're tribute to the feds rise quite a bit once you start making $40g+ a year.
Us middle-class single people get fucked hardest by the tax codes in this country. No deductions, no tax credits, nothing in the system to take advantage of. It sucks.
are you paying something else on top of your taxes?
Like I don't pay Employment Insurance or make Canadian Pension Plan contributions because I work for family and am not eligible for returns on either, and we don't have a benefits plan that I need to contribute to, so my deductions are just federal taxes.

This discussion is going on in the Netherlands too, and the coffeeshops (places where you can buy weed and hash, and smoke it) fear that smoking in their bussinesses will become prohibited and they'll have to become a place only for buying stuff and taking it with you.

A lot of bars in my area are pretty pissed about the no smoking ordinance passed in November. I mean if you can't deal with cigarette smoke what the fuck are you doing in a bar anyway?

Since I've been on Advair, I don't go through my albuterol as fast. As a result, I still have like five of those CFC blasting bitches around my apartment. I didn't get one this month, so I haven't seen the new ones, but I did get the notice about them being discontinued with my last refill.
edit: Butters, yeah I noticed that, all the bars around my place have people crowded around in the cold all the time. The one bowling alley has a propane heater people crowd around like a fire (It's seven feet tall though and fun to stand directly under).
Fiz knows this, and has accepted that I will just have to have my last cigarette before I board my plane back to America.

Lucky for me, I didn't find smoking addictive and I was able to quit cold turkey when it stopped tasting good. I get a hankering for it every once in a while when I am drinking around people smoking but even in the rare case that I bum one I don't end up finishing it.

Then I have property taxes for my house. It isn't terrible right now but it will be when I move.
That's a lot.
oh shits I forgot about property taxes!
That's 2 grand I won't be able to spend on hamburgers this summer
Income Tax - $470.70
National Insurance - $256.25
Student Loan Repayments - $62.45
Take Home. - $2359.67
Uh, isn't that close to 25% in taxes?
Yeah, I think income tax is about 22% until you hit over 40k a year, then the rest is taxed at 40%.
Plus national insurance, which I think they decide by a roll of a die.
Oh yeah. Student loans. I got those too. Not too much though.
It's not the hippies. They smoke; not tobacco, but they smoke.
