Man. I lost like 2 hours of playtime due to rollback last night. Blech. Oh well. I'm back in game if anyone new needs an invite to the clan friend Corrigan or get on TS3.

So ... what the hell does "leveling" a weapon do anyways. I have a sniper rifle that filled the xp bar on and I am not quite sure what it did.
It also seems like your weapon skill doesn't increase if you're using a weapon that has already maxed out its XP
I was using the same LMG for a very, very long time and my skill bar stopped increasing entirely. I just switched to a new LMG I found and it has already started going up again.

Huh, I don't think that's the case. We'll need to test it more, of course, but I'm nearly 100% positive I've gained skill levels using a maxed assault rifle.
It was after you logged. About 1 1/2 - 2 hours of running around doing story/side missions gone. Went from Madera to Marin and did like 3 story missions, a few side missions, and a rampage mission. Logged in this morning and was back in madera. Not a huge deal, there were connection issues last night, apparently nothing we did saved a bit after the dungeon.

Weird... But like you said, not a huge deal, pending you didn't pick up a gun you loved.
Honestly, THAT feeling is why I'm liking the game. But I might have just had decent luck in finding weapons I've liked (compared to 30+ hours in BL2 and 0 good gun drops off of mobs... sigh). If they can tweak the droprates/tune Rep grinds for rewards appropriately to where I'm getting that type of fulfillment consistently, then I'm sold. I mean, when I equipped my current lightning combat shotgun and a poison AR, both just felt perfect for my playstyle.
Just give me that, a playground to shoot some bugs with friends, and **get out of the way, Trion.
** Keep pumping out content.

pretty much. its got the exploration via pursuits (similar to gw2 exploration) that just keeps me chasing things. Very enjoyable.
they just gotta keep making content

I'm really enjoying the guns I have, so It would have to be a ridiculous gun for me to go "ooooh man!". Right know I got an AR from doing the episode missions that is goddamn amazing, I have a shotgun that shoots grenades (15 in the magazine, everything explodes) and I have a grenade launcher that holds 10 rounds and fires them fully automatic. For when I just dont have enough explosions. SMGs are kinda shitty with how fast they go through ammo, Infector and BMGs both have their own niches, and LMGs are just.. blech. So Finding a super awesome weapon will be great, but its going to be pretty damn hard.

you lie. Smgs for life.

With how streaky as fuck it is, damage per bullet is a premium for me. However LMGs aren't exactly accurate, so being able to hit with them is super important as well. Makes Rifles the perfect middle ground for me.

I ran LMG's during beta and LOVED them. Avoid the burst fire types and go for one with a big magazine and medium/high fire-rate and just hose down the bad guys. If you could get one that reloads your offhand weapon as you use it and carry a grenade launcher / sawed-off as your secondary, then I think you'd be sitting pretty. I agree on the SMGs, though...WAY too ammo hungry.
I am also using that assault rifle from the episode missions! It is wonderful. I also have a bolt action sniper rifle I am quite fond of. It's nice to find a high spot, crouch down, and kill everyone at a mission before I even get there.
I find that one's love for LMGs directly corresponds with how much they whore out Overcharge.
I had a LMG with increased accuracy with sustained fire for the longest time, and when combined with OC my crosshairs didn't even move. I called that 'Heavy Weapons Guy' mode (sandvich not included).

I was actually using it with Decoy, (I was trying to make a "Tank") and I don't think I ever found one with sustained fire accuracy. Though now I'm going to start looking as the thought of having one with OC sounds AWESOME.

This is correct, it does not. At least, that's how it worked in the beta. I don't know if it's intentional or not.

So Im-a open up a TS3 channel / sports bar called "dungeon runners" at about 6EST tonight.
We will be running dungeon 1 to get folks the pursuits there (if need be) and dungeon 2 ( I can enter it which means anyone in my group can also- most likely more than once to do its pursuit). fat loot for all. ladies drink free. No cover.
I need three brave souls. Anyone want to start the night off correctly?
Chief Wiggum: "Ladies, please. All our founding fathers, astronauts, and World Series heroes have been either drunk or on cocaine."
I lost 2-3 hours, but it was a productive few hours.
Thanks @CorriganX, either that or I'll consult a Youtube video I found. I half remember where some are.
Also, patch notes for the patch that is about to land:
Server Downtime:
Date: April 4th, 2013
Time: 3:00pm PT
Duration: 30 minutes
Patch Notes:
- Multiple server crash fixes
- Fix so that your vehicle will still appear even in heavily populated areas
- Improved loot in Major Arkfalls
- Adjusted visual priorities during Arkfalls to keep NPCs from disappearing
- Fixed issue that was causing players to extract behind a closed door
- Fix to the metallic/garbled Voice Chat
Just started playing on the 360. Got an important call during the cinematic before the crash so I missed the context for it- was it shot down? I lost everything from "take your seat" and seeing the two actors from the TV show.
So far- it feels like Fable where I'm playing a single player game and watching other people play their single player game. Am I doing it wrong? Should I get the PC version instead? (I rented 360- 3 days left)

Got home and played through the tutorial just in time for the servers to go down.
Woo you know that assault rifle. The really awesome one from the episode quest. Yeah the game just deleted mine. I checked buyback, I didn't try to take mods out of it or anything ( nor could I have because it was in every single one of my class set ups) I just loaded into an instance and it wasn't there anymore. Ah well, the hunt for a good alternative begins!
On the plus side, had some fun going through most of the instances with you guys tonight. Shame there's only two more left before we've 'completed' the co-op side of Defiance. Hopefully they'll add more/hard modes semi-regularly.

I started with Overcharge, and then respec'd over to Decoy because I wanted more of the defensive perks around Decoy
And while Overcharge is probably god once you've leveled it to a +30% damage boost, Decoy comes in incredibly handy
I'll definitely be grabbing both though for different loadouts

Yeah, Overcharge + LMG is Kill Every Last Motherfucker In The Room mode.
At least for the starter LMG, it makes shooting go from feeling like you're trying to wrestle a particularly feisty alligator just to keep anything other than very limited burst fire on target to being able to just point in the general direction of the bad guys, hold down the trigger, and watch the pretty orange numbers pop up.
I am wondering what the proper use for Infectors is, other than just because they're entertainingly weird.

Stuff with super high damage resistance tends to get hurt really hard by the DOT part of infectors.

Annnnd my female counterpart claims to need some of my time. So 'dungeon runners' may have to happen closer to 8 est. Boooooo.
I finished up a lot of the exploration stuff and found a lot of the audio recorders and now I have to do them all again.
