Nocturne is a third person version of a first person dungeon crawl. Honestly the NG+ only first person view is the way to play the game. Makes it feel right.

Even though it didn't have special sound effects for running into walls.
Not a fan of first person games wherein im not shooting people, so no thanks.
Can you elaborate? I'm not sure I comprehend this.
That said, I don't think it is a given that this will be first person. If the 3DS can run (an albeit shitty) version of Snake Eater, it can run a game where a lanky, pasty white guy runs around in the dark in third person.
Also, guys, this is just an announcement that they are porting SMT4 to the 3DS. Strange Journey 3D.
My guess: the hero will be switching between the "Real World" (bottom half) and the "Demon World" (top half), where actions in one could subtly or not-so-subtly affect the other.
One has a legit beef, the other needs to get over their themselves.
I just have trouble playing games on handhelds.
Sorry to hear that. The plain truth of the matter is that now for the second generation in a row handhelds are going to be the dominant platform for JRPGs.
Hell honestly for me it's been my dominant platform for three generations now.
I want to be excited, but 3DS exclusive (it is exclusive right?) kills it for me. Or more specifically, the region lock on the 3DS kills any desire to buy a 3DS. Being a Kiwi living in Japan, I'm in both the Japanese and European markets (and actually want to buy games in both markets). The region lock just doesn't work for me any more. Hopefully they'll port it to something else later.
Tri-Optimum reminds you that there are only one-hundred-sixty-three shopping days until Christmas. Just 1 extra work cycle twice a week will give you the spending money you need to make this holiday a very special one.

You know, I just thought about it and I made a dumb comment. There are plenty of first person games I like where I'm not shooting people. I guess I just would rather have full models instead of the FP view. I wasn't a huge fan of the Strange Journey way of doing things when I played it, though it wasn't a bad game by any stretch.
People were way too harsh on Strange Journey. The worst I could say about it is that the story is so whack-you-over-the-head that it gets a bit chintzy. Like, most of the characters are just Law/Chaos parrots. But otherwise, I think it's pretty awesome.
SJs main failing was getting far too easy towards the end, after the 5th zone or so boss it just kinda tapered down to "this dungeon hates youuuu". After that it was smooth sailing until the final boss, where I had to spend 3-4 hours to grind before I subjugated united mankind in glorious adulation of the LORD.
I gave up on the forma and fiends in general, some where stupidly rare.
I ended up getting every forma and every item and completing my compendium (minus the special items and demons that were not available on the Law path) which is why my save was over 80 hours.
I spent about 1-2 hours in each zone or whatever they were called when I was bored of walking trough the final areas grinding, and I still didn't see all the fiends.
I really should pick up SJ again and finish the other paths while hunting for the fiends or something, it really was a fun game apart from some minor flaws.

Managed to kill Botis by the skin of my teeth without losing any team members. Early Ziodyne? Yes, plz.
Also killed Ghost Q though he was relatively easy.
I'm glad he's fuseable this time.
Man, how'd you manage to do that? Ziodyne one-shotted all of my demons and I just couldn't keep up enough damage on him because he kept getting healed by the other enemies that eventually spawned.

I had some demons strong to lightning, and I recall I killed him in 1 round by just sending my entire team over there. Ziodyne almost broke the game, although one of the coming bosses is immune to it, presumably because they let you get it early if you really try.

But there's EO4 for that.
Give the peoples a third person Nocturne sequel.

Yeah really.
Damned Europeans!
We did get Nocturne, P3 and P4 and one of the Raido games, which were on a region-locked system.
So... fingers crossed.

You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious.

Oh wait that's only 1+2 and they've never been localized!
Some of the spinoff games are total whores, chiefly the Persona series.

Generally I found quite a few of the fights to be tough unless you went for a very specific set of resists/reflects and MC gear choices.
Also, you could cheese the fuck out of SJ with passwords.
The rarity of some of the um I forget what the crystal things are called but some of those are annoying.

Now SMT1, that's nigh impossible.
Getting them on my team though....
Personally, I want to be the one that punches Yahweh in the face. Then, I want to punch Lucy in the face. (Don't mess with the true demon...)
Well, you technically do it for him in 2.
I'm a little sick of him being used as a red herring, especially in Raidou 2. Why was he even there?
And I'm delirious at the thought of this being a sequel to SMT3, with Hitoshura leading Lucifer's armies.
This better be one awesome protagonist to take on that kind of war.
(Based on the concept art, I don't expect disappointment.)
My favorite version of him was probably in SMT1. No big fuss, just 'Hello, I'm Louis Cypher.'
You lose this round.
