People saying to level Fox probably do crazy shit like buy weaponry and armour from anything other than Tanaka's TV channel. They are crazy and should be ignored, not unlike the Fox itself.
While you are surely correct from a certain perspective, some would find the Fox useful for the morally necessary vengeful rampage through a certain dungeon in one go. You know what I'm talking about and only a heart of coldest steel would not be storming through that place on the first day.
I feel stupid for wanting to get P4G and a Vita. I already own the damn game, and I have a huge backlog (which I've kept to since starting the challenge). It just happens to be one of my favorite RPGs (second only to TWEWY). If anyone reading this has not played P4 and is on the fence about it, do it.

Isn't it better to complete dungeons on your first visit? Is there any reason not to, other than the pain of SP regen?
I completed the first dungeon in one go. I don't even know what this Fox is yet. But with the SOS feature and the cups card, SP regen isn't a huge problem.

I haven't completed most dungeons (aside from the first) in one go, usually 2-3. I feel like an asshole spamming SOS after every fight, and it only gets me like 4 SP back each time (assuming anyone answers) when I probably use 10SP minimum each fight. If I fight every shadow, I usually run low on SP on a few characters by floor 4 or 5.
Yeah, my mistake sorry. I was basing that remark on the ps2 original, as I haven't got a Vita yet. Reading up on SOS, I can see how the dungeon dynamics have changed a bit in terms of resource management.

Eh, spamming SOS has no negative impact. I gleefully push the button to answer someone else's SOS every time it pops up. It's a cool little thing.
If you mean you feel like its a cheat or whatever, I guess that's up to you. I did at first and then decided it was a fun feature and that means more than anything else.
Besides, you can't entirely count on it. There's no guarantee people will answer.
For me it's less the SOS mechanic and more the other changes, because yeah the animation for that is kinda long and annoying. Sweep bonus guarantees Shuffle time so you only really need to hit weaknesses and finish on an all-out attack when it drops off.
HP loss via physical skills or just taking damage is far cheaper to restore than SP loss, so unless the enemy is resistant to physical I mostly Rush everything (except Chie, who has AoE physical and bonus crit chance). Cup also seems to show up more when you're low on HP, so you can take advantage of that by just never healing Chie :P
I do always finish dungeons in one shot as well as doing the bonus boss of the previous dungeon, but even in the second dungeon at Fox 1 my takings far outstripped his bills.
Yeah, it's always preferable to beat them on the first day, though that can be a bit tough for the first two dungeons. Early on, the new wapons and pieces of armor you can buy by selling materials do make a difference.
P4G makes me want to be financially irresponsible in the worst way. All rationalizing the benefits of getting a Vita, when really it'll be a $300 Persona 4 player.
Embrace that logic, Frosty. It is worth every dime. The same way my PS3 is a 500$ Valkyrie Cronicles rig...
You guys need to stop making me want to make bad decisions with my money.
My top 5 Games of the Year so far looks like:
#1 - Persona 4 Golden (Vita)
#2 - Fallen Enchantress (PC)
#3 - NSMBU (Wii U)
#4 - Gravity Rush (Vita)
#5 - Tales of Graces F (PS3)
I'm probably not helping, am I?
Where the hell is Xenoblade on your list good sir!?
Somewhere in the #10-#15 range. It's good for what it is but it's not really my kind of RPG. Although the fact that I like it at all when I hated FFXII speaks volumes for its general quality.
Had about 15 minutes to play this morning so I started the Rise shadow fight. I uh...was late for work :?
Does Teddie end up filling out again? Because wacky waving inflatable arm-flailing Teddie is visually irritating.
In more ways than one.
Sport team (basketball) didn't have the voiced dialogue for Rank 9, so I guess it isn't quite every link. Nanako, Dojima, Marie and all the party members do though, so basically everyone important :P Just at October and I still haven't started Tower, I didn't remember Understanding being so hard to raise!
Bike skills for your teammates are a nightmare to fit into your schedule on top of everything else. They get too many good skills now!
Vita is shipping to me. I will get P4G within a month, but I still haven't played through P3P and I really want to play it first. Should I skip it and go for P4, or stick with 3?
Excellent, I'll stick with 3. My first goal is to make it past the 1-month mark, which is about where I stopped when I tried to play FES about 5 years ago.
I would stick with 3 if your planing on playing both of them. Its hard to go back to 3 after 4.
Eh, not neccessarily. Since you can finally control your party members in P3P it's not so bad, along with a few other quality of life-improvements they added in that version.

After playing P4G, I feel like I might as well erase P3P off my Vita because it would be really hard to go back to it. P4G is so good.

Maybe so, but Persona 4 has much better characters and Social Links than Persona 3.

Eh, I feel like a lot of the instant death stuff doesn't even come up as often in 4 as it did in 3. In general, there are less bosses where you hit a hard barrier where its impossible to continue without certain resistances or attacks.
Anyway, the events in February are great.
The game actually recognizes if you're dating all the heroines on valentines day. They all get super peeved about who gets to give you their special chocolate. You then have to go apologize to them one by one before finally meeting the girl you actually chose to see that day.
Of course, rise being rise, she was perfectly cool with the fact that she managed to come out on top.
It would be nice if more of the game was cognizant of your actions in social links.
I've come to the conclusion that where P3P has some pretty forgettable music tracks in my opinion, P4G easily has my favorite boss theme outside of Bloody Destiny.
For people playing through Persona 4 for the first time, I advise against listening to the commentary for the "Giants of P" art gallery (unlocked around October) until you've finished the game.
Yeah, it's a bunch of assorted special features content. I'm still on the second dungeon in my playthrough, and here's the sort of stuff I've unlocked in the TV channel:
-Soundtracks (no video, just plays the music)
-Videos from the Persona Live concert series
-Part of a lecture series taught by Mr. Edogawa from P3 on Jungian psychology
-Japanese TV commercials and trailers for other Persona games
-A section where I can replay the cutscenes from P4, as well as the original opening movie
-Part of a lecture series taught by Mr. Edogawa from P3 on Jungian psychology
WELP. That's pretty awesome.
It actually is. Really gives context to the whole Persona/Shadows thing. It wasn't just some Anime concept they pulled out of their ass, they did their homework on this one.
Kind of bummed I was never taught this kind of cool stuff in high school.
