As a mythical explanation for the existence of death it's quite straightforward, actually.

Speaking of Eurmal... having a worshiper of Eurmal on your clan ring is almost always... uhm... interesting. You can recognise Eurmali by the three tiny dots in the lower right of their portraits (provided you have a Eurmali amongst your nobles at all, that is - they tend to be pretty rare). Just don't make 'em the clan leader.

oh, it's straightforward enough. It's just really funny: lord of mirror-polishing! And some of the wording feels like it's been through a translator, but that might just be the vibe they're going for.

I have to decide what to do about Brolli's offer to my Carls.

I am getting very faint Alien Legacy vibes from this. There isn't a lot of similarity, so I'm not sure exactly why... but I like it.

I have named my tribe Malihin; a name I've been wanting to use for something for a while.

Looking over it, I do have a follower of Eurmal...

edit: Yes! The Cabbage Ducks. Which are possibly an Elder Race, according to this advisor.

    Best $3 ever.

edit again: that is the strangest save game feature I have ever used. It's asking me to save using the windows explorer dialog, instead of through a game interface.

And here I thought I would have some down time after finishing Arcanum. Hahah, silly me!

It takes awhile to get the feel for the economy and what the hell to do at the start (explore the hell out of your land), but then this game is just pure role-playing, strategy gold. Especially when you get to making a tribe, which was the last thing I did before tearing myself away. Hero quests are damn hard.

Best thing I ever did was put that shady little bastard who worshiped Eurmal as the last member of my circle. On one event, he totally saves the day when everyone else is floundering trying to find a solution. Then the little fuck goes, without my permission, and gives away a bunch of my cows because they "look funny." I couldn't even be mad, because when I clicked on him for his input on that particular event, his response was, "But those cows really do look funny."

And the duck people! I love those ducks and I don't know why. I wish I could be the ducks.

Maybe its because three of them kicked in my mead hall door, demanded a duel with my Renowned (2nd highest a character can get) level war leader and promptly cut his head off.

    You think that's bad?
Well, it might not be. If you've been having trouble with Chaos it's entirely possible those funny-looking cows had been infested by broos and by giving them away you don't have to deal with a sudden outbreak of broos and the other clan does.

Or he just gave away a herd of perfectly healthy cows. That's possible too.

    Tricksters are like that.

Yes. But it's not $2.99, or it wasn't when I bought it. I does have a few exclusive extra bits, although it's possible they've been stuck into the GoG version.

It's been out for awhile. The developers have been very good at support - refining the interface and adding new gameplay. I'm not sure if they are putting those back into the PC/OSX versions, but I wouldn't be shocked.

The developers have repeatedly stated that the new and improved bits won't be ported back to the PC version. Apparently, the development tools for the PC version are ancient and no longer being supported. So I guess that would make the iOS version the superior one.

There's also the fact that the UI was recoded essentially from scratch for the iOS version, and much (all?) of the art was redone. They probably don't want to add the new art in, as the resolution is completely different. The new bits might also use some improvements they stuck into the UI when they ported it.

Do I get all the races if I just buy Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic or does that just let you play the ones from the shadow realm? And can you do multiplayer through Steam or do you have to use the old connection system in the game?

AoW:SM is the third game in the series... so I guess the answer is yes, it has "all" the races. It's still uses the old "find game by IP address" or PBEM system.

Crap. Ah well, it still has hotseat multi, yes?

I just forgot if the series expansions were additions to base game or each expansion was base game + extras. I get this series confused with HoMM.

AoW:SM is supported by GameRanger so you could use that for internet play. It's what I use to still play AoE1 with a friend.

This one? Yeah, I've played with it a couple times. It changes a ton of shit, and I generally oppose those sorts of sweeping changes until after you've played the base game. Especially if you're going to play the campaign (all three games have fun campaigns), it's not balanced for these changes.

That said, if you're just playing local hotseat with friends, there's no reason not to. But I still suggest playing with the base game first. :)

It's pretty excellent that this would come out this week - a worthwhile compliment to his new album release (it's really good, BTW). His contribution to the game was reason enough for me pick it up 13 years ago. That the game itself turned out to be pretty great was a welcome bonus.

I remember feeling like Omikron went off the rails after a certain point, but then I'm not a big fan of trying to break the fourth wall unless it's handled in a way that doesn't completely take me out of the story.

Still I may have to pick this up again. I love me some Bowie, and the game certainly does have a unique mix of action and adventure stuff.
